Thank god for KZitem. I started digging around on the Neo forums, and after 5 min I decided to just come here, and instantly got what I was looking for. Thanks man!

Nice repair. I have an MV-1A which I believe to be a more modern / smaller version of your one (your's looks like a MV1-FS?). I replaced the on board battery with one suitable for a cordless phone. 3.6v I believe. Very rewarding upgrade, knowing that acid won't be leaking all over your PCB in a few years... Thanks for the video!

Hey man, good informative video. I am having "calebdar error" so am going to try and take the battery out, and swap it like you say, and pluck out that resistor. Where do i purchase the carrier for the 2035s??

Just removed my old battery, ordered the parts for the battery, i have ordered rechargable battery, will that give a problem with the socket you use? cuz i dont want to remove 470 resistor.

I'm not sure if that will work. You need to check the specs of the rechargable battery and what voltages are going to it. I chose to remove the resistor since I wasn't sure and used a normal battery.

I've had good luck removing those glued foam pieces by pourinig alcohol on it as I peel it back.

Its so cheap to replace those electrolytic capacitors and they explode when you least expect it and say goodbye to those traces. I emplore you to go ahead and replace capacitors when you pull a unit its not expensive and it can save the system. No joke!

Yep, it's on my list of things to do before I install it in my Custom Neo Geo bartop (real hardware) build. Stay tuned!

Hi the battery is not necessary for the operation of the neo geo bases, I have them without batteries, they are only used to store scores. Batteries only serve to break down those plates. greetings from Spain

Replace that battery with a Super Cap ;) no need to worry about it again and serves the same purpose. You need an r4996 1f 5.5v 20mm super capacitor

I am interested but there is a super-cap on NAOMI boards that commonly leak. So, are they really safe ? Also using 5.5v is not a problem when the original battery is 3.6v ?

You didn't rip the pad. The heat weakened the solder and you pulled the solder apart. If you pulled the pad you would see PCB there. The two sets of pads are connected by internal traces in the inner PCB layers. You didn't need to join them with wire.
