Somewhere amongst my stuff I've got my Dad's old .22 Webley Hurricane. His isn't '40s though, more like '60s or '70s. Great to see an old Taplin Twin again. I had an 8cc watercooled one when I was a lad in the 60s. It was a Beast !! Gawd knows what the 15cc one was like to use ...

that old air pistol is very high quality,, way back when I was a kid they use to advertise Webley revolvers in gun magazines, I always wanted to get one , I think it was something like .455 ,not sure, but I think it was about .45 caliber.. they were cheap back then around 35.00 but then they had many great guns in those magazines and they were cheap,, then came the 68 gun laws and all that went away.

Hi there The endplugs on Webley pistols are usually chewed because people try unscrewing them not realising that they have a rivet to stop them coming unscrewed accidentally!! Also, The barrel pivot is normally used to unscrew the forent!, Lovely old pistols, I think I have around 15 of them at the moment! Great video- enjoyed it muchly! 👍🙂

It too is not "catching" but is in pristine condition with the original box. I will be watching what you come up with! A very happy and healthy new year to you as well sir. We made our own diesel fuel in those days, equal measures of castrol R racing oil, ether, paraffin and if we could persuade the chemist a few drops of amyl nitrite but usually he would only sell us amyl nitrate which meant we lost quite a lot of rpm on the top end. I would first degrease everything with soap & water, then let all the parts sit overnight in Evapo-Rust or a similar rust converter product, then brush with a nylon bristle brush to remove the black Evapo-Rust by product. Once you have reached that stage, I would re-evaluate to determine how to proceed. The last thing I would use is any abrasive material until I could see the true condition of the Webley.

Rust removal / manganese oxide/ Iron filings from an old crankshaft/ for the blueing heck with patina that thing needs to look new and work even better with a two stage trigger
