DAY 84 WAITING FOR THE ,,G-FORCE" MOVIE REVIEW BY THE ,,NOSTALGIA CRITIC" !!
@brandonspain12345
9 ай бұрын
Fun fact: This was actually the movie responsible for changing Kangaroo Jack into the movie we know from it's original R-rated cut into something more family friendly because Snow Dogs also advertised the talking dogs scene and because that film made money, the studio made it more keen to that film.
@jadedheartsz
8 ай бұрын
also the original version Down and Under(which was finished back in 2001) tested really poorly in preview screenings so it was getting cut down one way or another but Snow Dogs inspired them to market it as a family comedy.

My favorite part of the movie is when the town is reading the letter from the mother who passed away. We never see her in the movie, but from reading the letter you can tell her whole personality how the woman was the loving and had a good sense of humor and had good relationships with most of the town. I especially love how she playfully roast everybody when listing the stuff she's leaving them, "to Thunder Jack, I leave my out house and all its contents" still gets me. 😅

As a kid what I remembered most was that James Coburn, voice of Waternoose, was the old man. It was really crazy to me that it was such a disparity between the two roles. Also, I really liked the scene where they question the villain for eating before he feeds his dogs. Oddly that really left an impact on me and made me more selfless. Cuba also really fell off. The last time I saw him in something was… Norbit. Where admittedly he was a corny funny villain.

All I remembered of this movie was the dream sequence with the dogs talking, and then the blue cheese cookies. Made me realize the reason I thought the joke was kinda humorous and memorable even after all these years was that this was one of the earliest memories I had of a work of fiction to convey the idea of subconscious thoughts and memories converging into a confusing little mess. His favorite cookies are oatmeal cookies, and his father loves blue cheese. So it signifies his two diverging routes converging into a single memory. One in which his snowdogs are tanning on the Florida beach and his mom baking him oatmeal cookies. Hey, at least it makes a lot more sense here than the dream sequence in Kangaroo Jack.

Im adopted and love dogs so as a kid I loved this movie cause it sort of helped me understand the idea of your adopted parents are your real parents, and your birth parents may not be people you actually want to know. Grant it in the movie they end up eventually getting along, it still helped me understand the life I have is the life I was meant to have. It also was mom's way of explaining why she always told me flat out that I was adopted, because she never wanted a moment like in this movie where the mom tells her son he's adopted, and he freaks out and his whole world is turned upside down. So I got some sympathy and nostalgia for this movie, and I do watch it now and then as an adult.

That and this movie got me interested in Blue Cheese, which became my favorite for awhile.

And my favorite scene in the cave when Cuba finally does what everyones been telling him to do and bites Demon's ear, only for his dad to say "I never thought you'd do it.". First and foremost yes I wanted to see the dogs talk when this movie first came out and it has often bugged me how they used that as a trick to make kids excited for the movie only to barely use it and then push it into a dream sequence that doesn’t last very long. Definitely not what I was hoping for but at the same time the movie has a lot of funny moments and I like how they make the main character feel like a guy you can relate to and they give him a good story even though he loses the sled race. There are things that work about it and things that don’t but it’s still a great movie. Happy belated holidays everyone!
