This is a short three minute video showing the snow conditions in my neighborhood on Nov 22, 2010.
These conditions were caused by an arctic outflow from the British Columbia mainland across Southern Vancouver Island. Although some snowfall is not unusual for winter in our area, the low temperatures (-4°C) and wind chill (-10°C) stopped most activity in the city today.
My cat Sheba had the right idea: stay inside and watch the poor birds try to scratch out some food from the bird feeder. The kids enjoyed the special treat of snow today as they left nearby Quadra School. No doubt their parents were not quite so thrilled with the inclement weather!
