Some nerd trivia: Twisted Edge actually used the same engine used in Top Gear Rally. Hence the physics and graphics being so similar. Likewise, Big Mountain 2000 used the MRC engine (which was pretty weak even in 1997 ). 😊

1080 is still my absolute favorite snowboarding game on any system. Still have my copy. Still remember most of the shortcuts. Love the "shortcut" for Dragon Cave. Near the beginning, if you skip the 3 turn downhill wind, you can jump right off the edge of the cliff. If you screw up, you lose most of your health. If you do it right, you can slide down the mountain without taking any damage.

Big Mountain 2000 is a great game and my favorite snowboarding game on the N64, and you're missing something important about the controls! The key to turning in Big Mountain 2000 is the A button. When you hold A, you slow down (snowplow in skis or turn your board sideways in snowboard), which makes it much easier to turn and reduces your stability meter as well, so you won't fall over. Your problem here is that you are trying to turn without slowing down, which doesn't go well because you need to slow down to turn. Press A almost every time you turn and it'll feel like a completely different game and the games' controls and gameplay will feel great! Big Mountain 200, aka Snow Speeder in Japan, is a very fast-paced game with one of the best senses of speed in the genre (once you unlock the faster equipment) and simple but fun gameplay. It's a pure racing game, and you're just trying to get to the end of each course as fast as possible. I really like that about it. The controls are spot-on, the courses are well designed, and the graphics are okay. It's a great game and still really fun to play!

Playing 4-player on the N64 it can get quite hard to see exatly what's going on for someone who hasn't played it single player, and thus adding to a list of reasons why it's hard for new players to enjoy. But while watching this video I just had to grab my boxed copy and glance at the wonder that it Snowboard Kids on the N64. Such a gem =)

Only major downside for me was that it was impossible to do grabs and rotations (at least ones that counted for combos) at the same time like in the coolboarder series. It was one or the other but not both at the same time. I know it was possible to rotate while maintaining a grab but we didn't get points for that which is kinda lame. being able to pull off a full 1080 while jumping right at the beginning of a race or pretty much anywhere after getting the hang of it was pretty ridiculous too haha. :P

Greta Video Glenn. Been Playing a lot of Snowboard Kids + on my Playstation classic. It is a lot fun and very wacky. I still prefer the N64 one. The soundtrack although CD quality is not as good as the N64(perhaps nostalgia). Still more Snowboard Kids is always a good thing. I hate the standard auto pilot before the chairlift that takes the fun out of the scramble to the gate. Still I just figured out it can be switched off in the pause menu during a race. It's time for Snowboard Kids 3!

I have no real experience on this side of Nintendo 64 glen but I can tell you that I played the hell out of and still own SSX tricky and SSX3 on my Nintendo GameCube and they’re the best snowboarding games I’ve ever played. 1080° looks really similar to SSX

I love Snowboard Kids 1-2. 1080 is good but never grabbed me, and haven't played the others. The other snowboarding games I got into were the SSX series on PS2. I liked both SK OSTS, neither really hold more nostalgia for me over the other.

Weird SB K 2 didn't come out in Europe. 1 was a Player's Choice there. It wasn't one in North America. My friends and I were heavily into n64 and played pretty much anything, but I never played Snowboard Kids and don't know anyone who has, yet we get part 2 and not Europe where the first was a hit
