Thanks Dave for this video; it was very well done! I know it's early to be thinking about snowmobiling but getting my old '98 Touring SLE prepped for her 25th season on the trails is scratching my itch for now. Track tension is something I've always just "eyeballed" and I was thinking I should look at some videos for the correct method. It's getting hard to find good videos for maintenance and repairs on the S2000 chassis sleds so when I found your channel, I was pleased to see I'm not the only one who still appreciates the old Ski Doos!

We actually didn’t get as much as many south of us did. It was so windy its hard to say, as there are some deep drifts but in other spots very little. Its melting already, but i do have both sleds ready to go for the next dump. Happy New Year!

I found your channel in the summer and it is very informative. Here near Listowel we got 12 inches of fresh yesterday and today tomorrow when the wind dies down I'll be hitting 5ft drifts!

Great informative video Dave! I like that tool also. That makes track tension a lot easier and precise. I always look at the back of the track after adjusting to see if the rails are centered in the track holes. Another way I've found to get your track centered is measure the length of each adjustment bolt and make sure they are the same, this usually works and gets you pretty close.

Thanks Dave. Glad you are doing well! I hang a bucket of water that weighs 10lbs from my Polaris track and make the adjustment. Unfortunately you need a lift to get it high enough.

Hi Dave, great video! I actually purchased the tool and I had to do the calculations to determine I need to be at 1.5 inches which is the second silver ring from the top of the tool. Do you screw in the bolt into the t-block so the second ring is at the top of the t-block or the bottom? I would assume it is the top of the block but wanted to clarify. Thanks for your guidance.

Nice video Dave. I use the pencil style tension gauge for my sled but I like the ease of use of the ISAT tool. The nice thing about the pencil gauges is that they can be used for any weight (force) and deflection without need to fiddle with a formula. The downside is that it takes a bit of back and forth (adjust tension bolt, check track deflection and repeat until you're within spec) and as you stated the small numbers on the pencil gauge are tougher to read. Thankfully the pencil gauges have rubber bands that you can preset to mark force and deflection distance. One last problem with the pencil gauges is that the numeric scales are usually stickers rather than etched into the tool. If the stickers get damaged that would be bad... If I'm in the market for a new gauge, I'll certainly look into ISAT. Thanks for continuing to keep us informed and best of health in the new year!

Thanks Dave. Cheers from SW Ontario. Xmas eve and the only snow we have is enough to make driving miserable. I just aligned my grand touring last week and will use your tips to double check. Merry Christmas.
