Jan. 22, 1987 we got 14 inches in Gaston County NC. I was 10 years old. I was 11 when this snowstorm hit in 1988. we live in the same place. we got a foot of snow. 1987 and 88 was 2 good winters. wish we would get good snows like that again. still live in Gaston County and we r lucky to get a couple of inches a year now and when we do get it its a wintry mix.

This is what happens when God is systemically removed from government, from schools, from families, from the definition of what a man and woman is, etc. Very sad. The last few refuges are conservative states where most people are God-fearing.

I remember me and some friends were filmed by WYYF playing in the snow after this storm (Saluda Dam area in Berea). Bill Oglesby was my neighbor so I'm guessing that's why were filmed..it was in front of his place. I remember being so excited to be on the news. I was SO hoping it might've been in this video but no luck.

Only Carol. Carl retired from 4 in 1994 but then joined WSPA 7 from 1995-2003 (and then retired from TV news altogether this time). Charlie retired from WYFF in 1991; his replacement was John Cessarich who retired in 2019 (Chris Justus is Chief Meteorologist now and has been with the station since 2013). Not sure where the sports guy went (Politics? Public Relations?) but there have been several Sports Directors since him. Geoff Hart was the longest tenured in that role (at least after he started in 1993).

@JOHNBABLE that's right, it was in Summer 2003 (I think June 2003). Then weekend meteorologist Todd Gladfelter did a report/story on him.

The funny thing is I don't even remember recording this. I found it about six or eight months later. I don't know where you are from Charles but it is typical to blow a snow forecast in Upstate South Carolina.

@@brownfamily8830 I’m just southeast of Charlotte so busted snow forecasts are no stranger to me. The ‘88 storm was definitely one that busted on the positive side for snow lovers. This storm was one of 2 times that I’ve experienced a foot or more from a storm... I was on the edge of the foot plus totals in January 2000 surprise storm, and then I was absolutely in the sweet spot in February 2004 and got 21 inches...
