I used to get stoned to this song back in the early '80's when I was studying in Switzerland. We all used to go out on a Friday night and get loaded and I used to sit on my balcony room with my mates overlooking Lake Geneva with all the pretty lights and put this on. I heard it again a few weeks back driving back from Lincoln with my daughter, and wow, memories flooded back! Have not touched any funny tobacco for nearly 30 years now, and hardly drink anymore. But in that brief moment, when listening to it in the car, I was back in those wonderful times. And I really get it now, more than I did then when was a pot head after a night out. Life experience eh? Thanks for a fab song.

Snowy played with Peter, and after Peter left FM he left all his belongings with snowy in a Flat on the Richmond Road. , inc Greeny his guitar. He had tapes of his practicing with Mac and Bluesbreakers. One day peter called round and took them and a tape recorder to a charity shop and just left them. They have never surfaced, so someone probably just recorded over them !

I was 11 when this was released. In those days my mum would listen to the radio all weekend with a tape recorder ready to go! She would play back her tapes on week mornings as she got ready for work. She recorded this song once and, no matter how young or old you are, its mesmerizingly beautiful. One thing though, the radio DJ who introduced it, after the third line of the song "I just had to try" the DJ added the words "Too Right Son" in a deep and cheesy voice. And for years I thought it was actually a part of the song. Even now I can't forget it. Songs which take me back to those days....

One of the greatest rock ballads to come out of the magical 80's. A timeless classic. This is a music! This kind of rock ballad and electric guitar solo is so reminiscent of a Dire Straights ballad. What a load. All you have to do is show your stuff to them. My daughter liked Jimi Hendrix and the Doors and she did not find them until 1995 and wrecked half my cassetes by over recording on them and scratching the heck out of my vinyl. Then I took her and her friend to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I also just found out just how good JJ Cale really is and at 64 I feel like I missed a bit as he is a real long time influencing entertainer who wrote some fantastic songs that have been covered by heaps of famous people. We in Australia heard very little of him and the likes of Van Morrison. Another entertainer I have flogged to death recently, gotta love you tube.
