I too agree with a lot you said specially the loadout system being useless, but there are some things that I would like to put emphasis on: 1. This game fails terribly at telling me that things are wrong and I need to change this world. Other than some blood on the floor here and there the tone that this game has is very happening which I ironically liked but I would have liked it even more if I did provide more occasions where I see "yeah, this world needs to change". What I was doing for the most part was well, just progress. Also, this game fails to remind you of "who you are and what you are destined to do" compared to say "lies of P". 2. Parry. However satisfying it maybe I find that its utility is heavily reduced when your normal attacks also build stagger meter and quite good at that. Personally, for the most part I didn't even find parrying that satisfying, it just didn't felt very natural to me, I believe the part reason might be as you stated bad(not that smooth) animations, and for the love of god I still don't understand all those "parry stones". 3. Its pretty clear from your video as well when you point to various landscapes, the draw distance is really really low in this game. First this game doesn't have many "landscapes" and for where it has those it suffers from poor draw distance. Most of the time the textures just wouldn't load and you would see highly pixelated version, specifically speaking - Just before the Melted ruler boss fight the view can be sooooo good but the draw distance breaks everything. 4. I am pretty sure but you can't store your Memoria aka souls. So basically you can't buy something that would give you more or less same souls so that you don't lose it upon dying if you don't got to retrieve it. Thanks

nice video you articulated your opinions well. personally I agree with almost everything you said both negative and positive sides. I'm still having fun playing it and I hope we can talk about the game again in the future, If I had to rate it I would give it a 7 right now. Maybe because I'm a little biased? I don't know but I really appreciate all the references and inspiration to my culture that they put into the game. I didn't find it completely disappointing but it's obvious to everyone that they could do better so the only thing I can to do is to hope for the best for the game in the near future (personally I'm bombarding them with general feedback, both technical and personal😂)

I agree with all the criticism. The game does have flaws and animations are some of the bigger ones. However I liked the style and setting so much I still feel like the game worth having a fandom and being cherished. It certainly went quite big on its trailers and underdelivered, but how much style it oozes is so wonderful that it needs to be talked about. Too bad that most likely it will disappear in abscurity, just how Grime, There is no Light, Vigil and several other games did.

I played like 2 hours of the demo and never picked it back up. I could not get past the jank and nothing else about the game drew me in enough to make me want more. I think the devs got carried away with big ideas and ambition, and forgot to nail the basics of a Souls-like before adding a unique twist.

Yah it was a lot of fun, but looking at the roadmap they are basically admitting to criminally pushing an early access title as a finished product. Some of the passives also didn't even seem to work properly. The lines also you basically had to test each one since the descriptions were weak, and there was no info on damage ( and of course how do you compare an unupgraded skill to your already upgraded ones...). Much shame.

Soulslikes are starting to look similar to MMOs. A very large amount of people trying to make them despite the fact they require well above average know-how and careful allocation of resources during development. They cause a lot of interest pre-release because the genre junkies need their fix, they then hit the market and often take less than a year to shut down. The recent Blue Protocol didn't even release properly in the West despite being a functional game - that's how bad it can get. Meanwhile, the colossal titles like WoW and FFXIV endure. This Soulslike stuff reminds me of that. Nothing about Enotria is actually "bad", so in that sense I wonder if the devs are scratching their heads figuring out why their game isn't even hitting 100k copies sold across consoles and PC, while LoP is probably close to 2mil and with DLC on the way. The difference between these two games is most likely resource availability (both money and talent) and resource allocation. But I don't really know, just speculating. People devote not only their working but also artistic life, and I do wonder how they process this reception. LotF got dunked on to hell and back but the devs never relented, neither in commitment nor in the pride that they had something worth playing, to the point they sometimes sounded delusional. I now wonder to what extent the grimdark medieval fantasy aesthetic carried that game - certainly far easier to ship than sunny pasta&wine fantasy. It is what it is...

I think you can say that about every genre like RPGs or FPS. I sure need my soulslike fix, though. lol

@@TheOneGreat There is something special about MMO and Souls fans in the sense that they "act" like they'll play anything to get their "fix" when in fact they have pretty hardlocked standards and always come back to the super high quality game(s) they love. I think RPG fans, particularly for JRPGs, genuinely enjoy games besides the usual industry titans. FPS... I'm not so sure - seems like a very diverse genre to grasp trends about.

I think of Wukong as a Souls-Lite: its not a True Souls game like Fromsoftware titles and Lies of P; yet its not a Souls-Like such as Nioh, Wo Long or Lords of the Fallen. it has SOME Souls likeness in the bonfire and the punishing Bosses that act like 'no progress till you beat the obstacle' barriers... but also is more action adventure than the typical souls game with only SOME bosses being majorly punishing.
@EmadIbrahim007

Comparing this to Lies of P, particularly the secret boss, the combat with him, the lore behind it and the access to him that draws significant inspiration from Lies of P, both games have demonstrated that Asian developers are significantly more adept and meticulous at game production than their European counterparts. This is particularly evident when both regions adapt a game based on Italian folklore. Ironically, the European developer, hailing from the very nation that should showcase this heritage, fails to deliver a polished, bug-free game that honors and respects their own culture. It's a pity; the game had immense potential that could have been realized with just a few more months of polishing and fine-tuning. Adding to the irony, they initially planned to release it last June but postponed due to the launch of (The Shadow of Erdtree). It's baffling to think they believed they could compete with such a title; such a move would have surely tarnished their reputation and led to financial ruin!

The game didn't need a giant skill tree and oblique item descriptions. It certainly did not need auto item pickup and weird interfaces that didn't explain much. 1/10 from me for sure. I am insulting the studio when I say they had their chance and they screwed it up by pushing out an EA title as a full release.
