Southeast asian street food beef satay and delicious peanut sauce recipe to cook at home.
Ingredients for Satay:
500 grams Beef cut into cubes and sliced further for easily tenderising
1 tsp Ginger paste
1 tsp Garlic paste
1 tbsp Onion paste
1/2 tsp crushed Cumin
1 tsp Coriander seeds powder
1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
2 tbsp Brown Sugar (you can use white sugar as well)
1 tbsp Soy Sauce
1/2 tbsp Natural Fruit Vinegar
2 tbsp Cooking Oil
1/2 tsp Salt
Method:
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly except beef in bowl to make marinade then add prepared beef or any meat of your choice and coat with the marinade properly and let rest for at least two hours in the refrigerator.
Soak bamboo skewers in water for half an hour to prevent burning on grill or coals. Now skew the meat on bamboo skewers (you can use metal skewers as well) and cook on BBQ or grill pan on medium heat for two minutes turning every thirty seconds.
Ingredients for peanut sauce:
1/3 cup crushed roasted peanuts without skin
1 cup coconut milk
1/4 tsp coriander powder
1/8 tsp crushed cumin
1/8 tsp chilli powder
pinch of turmeric
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp salt
Method:
Heat a pan on medium heat add coconut milk then coriander powder, crushed cumin, chilli powder and turmeric cook for a few minutes then add sugar cook again for few minute and then add soy sauce and mix well then taste for salt and add salt as per your taste then cook til the liquid reduces to half now add crushed peanuts and cook on slow flame till the sauce thickens and oil from the cocnut milk can be seen in the sauce. let cool and enjoy with satay sticks.
