Thanks to Poe Tato over on the Balance for spotting a math error on my part. TL:DR averaging out PPS to get the PPS for a rotation loop doesn't properly weight longer casts. Instead I should have recalculated PPS from scratch, summing all potencies in a rotation and then divide it by total cast time for the respective loop. The adjusted values for the potencies accounting for a 5% buff is 51.87 for a Holy rotation, 52.65 for a rotation without Holy. The conclusion is mostly the same, Holy seems to be a dps loss or at best neutral, with the case maybe being stronger for it being a dps loss.

The sheer dedication to trying to math this out is actually astounding. Even if numbers might change by the time we get to media tour the fact that you went to the trouble at all is just NUTS. Easiest sub of my life, wpwp

bro I don't even have the time to watch the video right now as I'm literally on a vacation but this type of content deserves recognition and I would love to see this type of content throughout at least first months of Endwalker. Earned a sub.

hi, this is my first comment i'm leaving on youtube! your thoroughness with pct so far has certainly earned a sub from me, hoping to see more content as time goes on/more information gets released.

Thanks for going through this. I've been looking at pct from the point of view of what the gcd casts per 2mins are, so its good to have precise predictions for cast times. Assuming that every 2 minutes, you need to cast: 3 Animal Motifs (12s) 2 Weapon Motifs (8s) 1 Landscape Motif (4s) 6 Hammer casts (15s) 1 Star (2.5s) 1 Instant Rainbow (2.5s) That leaves us with: 4 Additive Palette combos (30s) 3 Subtractive Palette combos (2 spending gauge, 1 from the Landscape). (29.7s) 3 Casts of Comet (9.9s) Adding that up and adjusting for the presumed speed buff on land scape, we get around 15s of 'spare' time, which can be used on: 1. Spending the extra initial Weapon charge and its combo. 2. Spending the extra Animal charges to align Moogle/Madeen with a burst window. 3. 2 Additive combos to carry more gauge to the next 2min cycle. 4. Spending that additional gauge on another Subtractive Combo + Comet. 5. Using Holy for movement. (Or damage in the off chance its actually net positive)

Very insightful video! Thank you for making this, it's very interesting to see the math ins and outs of how everything works :)

I can’t see how the holy pips are not movement and therefore will likely be equal to the average of the one two three combo. So you could make it a 4 step combo with the same average dps for. Free movement gcd.

Pretty much everything you've said here aligns with my own observations, so that's a nice vote of confidence. I hadn't fully crunched the numbers on Holy, I knew it was a small DPS loss but to see it look like it's basically neutral is nice to see, won't feel bad to use it for movement at all.

I'm willing to bet that the cast in the showcase was a low roll and so it will basically be DPS neutral. That said, if it is a slight loss it does allow for some minor optimization stuff which is cool.

This is cool thanks for making this! Sorry if I missed this in the video, but did the motif PPS include the initial cast of the painting?

I didn't really go into it in the video since it doesn't particularly matter, given that the prep time is outside of burst anyways, and the concept of PPS doesn't really apply to oGCDs. To actually answer your question though, the hammer GCDs don't account for it, but the creature values do. The creature parts, such as Pom, account for the one motif cast used to gain them. The summon motifs, Mog and Madeen, account for 2 Motif casts (8s) to get the 2 parts, but I also added the potency of these 2 parts. So (Pom+Wing+Mog)/8. The logic here was I wanted to know 2 things; is it worth casting motif and Pom if you aren't going to have time to build the summon? and if so, how much of a gain is getting to the summon? With the figures gathered, it's clear that even just casting the parts gives a higher PPS than the average Aetherhue rotation, so it is definitely worth doing.

I'm just kinda thinking about swifting the tunnel at the end of the burst for funsies and actually being able to quad weave w/o clipping >=]
