its nice to see someone push back a little against the "pile of shame" idea
@Dan-ds8sf

Yeah I’m not a fan of it, I think we’re too hard on ourselves as a community in a way that no other collectors would be. You won’t hear coin, stamp, art, movie, book, game, etc., collectors talk about a “pile of shame”, and neither should we.

I’ve never minded building miniatures, I find it kind of relaxing to do when I pop in some headphones and zone out. This was a good way to help me remember that anything can seem like work if I force myself to do it. Actually I was thinking about your channel when I was editing this video, because I kept thinking “oh now I need some Gauls, some Iberians, some Citizen Infantry…”
@busydad_painting
14 күн бұрын
@@Dan-ds8sf Thematically the Iberians are a great choice, those kits are great but have some very dynamic poses and limited head options. Still great though. The Citizen Infantry is the simplest kit with little choice but solid results. The Gauls are great, spear, sword and javelin choices.
@Dan-ds8sf

@@busydad_paintingYeah I was disappointed with the sculpted-on heads for the Iberians when you showed them off on your channel, especially since Victrix successfully solved the hooded head issue with the two-part pieces on their Persians. I recently did the opposite to this. I usually build any model as soon as I have it, so I have a large collection of built but not painted models, recently I wanted to have at least some kitbash options, so I got a few sprues of frostgrave/stargrave and deliberatly did not build them so I have bodies to work from in future when there's a specific model I will want for whatever reason.
@Dan-ds8sf
13 күн бұрын
This is a great suggestion, especially with companies that have lots of kitbashing potential. I’m still kicking myself for building all of my Victrix Viking models, because now I want to blend some of those bodies with the bits from their Early Saxon and Rus kits. I have a bits box, but I should max a more conscious effort to set aside a sprue from each of the boxes I put together in case I need them down the road.

The other day I did my best to do something similar, I mostly 3d print so it was not half as much as some people but I nearly lost my mind. 1 bottle of plastic cement, a 4pack of super glue and 5 hobby blades were casualties of the endeavor, as well as maybe some braincells because im sure being around that much plastic cement and super glue fumes aren't good for you!
@Dan-ds8sf

Good lord, how many models did you print? I also went through 2 xacto blades and a bottle and a half of super glue, but by the end that was because I was just getting ridiculously sloppy with my handiwork.
@Basedweaboo

Most 3D prints come in 1 piece thankfully. most of that gluing was just guys to bases. The time sink was cleaning up all my plastic and metal models. I get 1 day off a week so I did about 140 models in 1 day a lot of landsknecht, romans, a bunch of frostgrave and oathmark mini's and 2 armies from a mantic starter box. I wanna say it was between 180-190 miniatures. Also my glue was in small tubes that came in 4pks so it probably was not as much as it would seem
