I always thought that was funny when I was working at Hershey and making Reese's cups. The bagging running the single cups is non-stop 24/7 and I was told that they get sent to restaurants as is, and there are very few companies who purchase Reese's cups already chopped up from Hershey directly and most including dairy Queen send them to a secondary facility and someone else gets paid probably less than $16 an hour to unwrap them and grind them up to send to the restaurants

Yah I used to work at a warehouse this is nothing we made life easier by always having scissors or a box cutter Scissors made it easy cuz un-wrapping is a process so I would do 1 or 2 things the first thing I like to do a lot is cut all the tops or sides and then take multiple to dump or I just cut the top and dump at at time but I personally think (if your fast like me that is) that cutting all the tops or sides first then just letting all of em fall out the packaging is better and easier to me because less work and more progress in less amount of time

There are bags that you can buy full of chopped up Reese cups. You can buy a single bag at a store as a regular customer, and also you can order them in bulk. Biggest part for some people’s stores is the presentation. Most likely the owner prefers the customers see the nice whole peanut butter cups over the chopped ones.
