when playing outdoors, it is VERY common to not feel anything or barely feel it, because of distance, wind and bushes messing up your shots, sometimes getting hit feels like somone taps you as soflty as they can with thier pinky, or is just dropping a bb onto you with gravity, and other times it can feel like someone punched your helmet, or even BBs going into the skin, Ive seen people popping BBs out of thier cheek like a pimple, have seen somone chip a tooth, and plenty of bleeding welts. Snipers hit harder with heavyer BBs and higher velocity, but they are not allowed to engange closer then 20meters. it is alwys funny to see the bullet damage to the fields, a lot of walls look like swiss cheese from 1000s of bbs hitting cover @@silenraven1017

Yea, while visuals are one thing, it also has a lot to do about human psychology. When you aren't expecting a vaguely human shaped bush right next to you, your brain simply won't be connecting the dots and registering it even if you 'see' it. There is also another psychological phenomenon at play, and that is creating a safe zone in their mind. Since a comrade is already past that point, how could there be an enemy right in the middle of the 'safe zone' yea? Better be on the lookout for the enemy past the friendly lines. It's basically a self imposed mental block. If the vanguard can't detect the threat when passing by that point, the ones who come after will be even less likely to detect it. The only reason this guy could find him is because he was carefully looking for an enemy in that general vicinity after so many got killed, and also the bush man moved a bit when he was looking.

Supersonic or even subsonic bullets are a bit louder than airsoft 🤣 Plus the following barrage of thermal guided machine gun and automatic grenade fire to turn you into mush... Some fields have a rule where a gun hit counts as a disability hit towards the gun, so you can only have it "repaired" by returning to spawn. If the guy didn't have a secondary he was effectively dead anyway unless somebody gave him a spare gun.
