Stacey, you absolutely need to react to Pearl Jam's 1992 Mtv Unplugged version of their song Black. Specifically that version. It's one of the best live performances of a song, not just by Pearl Jam, but of any band, period. Ask any Pearl Jam fan and I believe they'd agree! Eddie Vedder's lyrics and heartfelt delivery will tear your soul out. Be prepared with tissues, it's a tear jerker! You'll love it!

He said enjoyed calling instead of his agent! Very down to Earth and later we were able to meet at a Seattle Pearl Jam show so he was able to put a face to the voice on the phone 📱. You need to check out their most iconic song Jeremy. A visceral song about a child who committed suicide at his school in front of his classmates. Also, Better Man, Yellow Leadbetter, Alive, Black, all classics worth checking out. Eddie sure was animated, he was quite notorious for climbing around the stage during performances like a monkey. And he has a super unique voice. You can't mistake it for anyone else once you hear it.

That jump/fall Eddie Vedder did, into the crowd, was TAME compared to what he had done at many other concerts! You should watch "Porch" live at Pinkpop, 1992! There's also a compilation video of a lot of the crazy, death-defying things Eddie Vedder did on their first couple tours. At some point, the band asked him to chill the acrobatics out because they didn't want him to get hurt! Also, Eddie Vedder showing some amazing breath control here… flailing around like a man on fire, but then sounding almost exactly like the album vocals. Pretty impressive.

Anything from their Unplugged session. In fact, the entire thing is probably about 30 minutes max. If you watched the whole session, I promise you people will watch along with you. It's one of the most iconic Unplugged sessions ever. Pearl Jam is a part of the "big 4" of the grunge era. Nirvana, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden are the other 3. All are worth a deep dive, and Nirvana and AIC's Unplugged are also iconic. Speaking of jumping into the crowd, I highly recommend Porch, live from Pink Pop in 1991 or 92. Stone Temple Pilots deserve a mention in that era, even tho I don't think you can categorize them as grunge.

Grunge is GREAT music done in flannel shirts and jeans 😉😁 I discovered grunge in my 70’s…as a genre I actually got to know. I had a misconception that it was just all depressed noise. How wrong I was. Allot of it is indeed dark, but I noticed right away that the lead vocalists of all the major grunge bands were incredibly good …. That they had great melodies, that the bands were tight and skillful, that they had some amazing lyrics. And I discovered that a drummer with waist length hair is a joy to watch! A vision of pure kinetic energy 😁🙄 and yeah, I was jealous of his hair too! I quickly had two favorite grunge bands, Pearl Jam and AIC. I love Eddie Vedder’s voice and I love Layne Staleys style.

Your going to love the grunge era. Theres the big four in Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and obviously Pearl Jam. Those bands alone could occupy you for a decade. But then there are the more underrated bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Candlebox. Some of the best music of all time from them. It's also fun because grunge really captured a moment in the early-mid 90's, and it's easy to listen and feel transported right back to that time. Enjoy the ride. Also worth mentioning that, out of the big four, Pearl Jam is the last band standing. They put out a new album just this year to wide critical acclaim.

Pearl Jam is such a legendary band and I've been a fan of their music, since the early 90's! Sadly my memories of them are forever a bit marred (by *no* fault of their own). 24 years ago, they played at the Roskilde Festival, when a horrible and tragic accident happened during their concert... 9 people were killed and many many more were injured due to pressure from the crowd. I wasn't there myself, but my friends brother were and when I saw what had happened I had to wake her up very early in the morning to say she had to call him at once (he was fine!). I can't even imagine how she felt, before she got a hold of him... and I can't imagine what the families of those who died went through, not to mention the bandmembers... 'Lost nine friends we'll never know, two years ago today' - from their song Love Boat Captain

They just put out a new album and are touring at the moment. I have tickets to 4 shows in November in Australia. They are my favourite band. You have so much to discover.

Nearly 35 years on, they still release albums and tour and put on killer performances like this. This song is the most-played of their career, and is typically an excuse for Mike McCready (lead guitarist) to solo for 5 minutes or so during their concerts. They are still the best live band I've ever seen.

I am around the same age as these dudes and have been immersed and experienced 3 decades of Rock Bands. Pearl Jam essentially defined Rock music in the 90's As well as NIRVANA /Stone Temple Pilots /Tool / Green Day / Counting Crows / Garbage / Living Colour . One might even say that Pearl Jam was (Hard) Rock's "Swan Song" or final chapter. By the time the 2000's rolled around Rock and rock ballad music took a back seat to more progressive and the emerging techno scene and what would later become "trance" and other eclectic genre's. This was largely due to the fact that APPLE computer harvested software that promoted more independent artists and experimentation. The bands of the 90's were genuinely the last of the real studio and big label bands and musicians. By the 2010's with KZitem and other emerging Social media platforms virtually anyone could become a "Star".

I always remember reading an article about Pearl Jam describing them as the biggest cult band ever which I think is a perfect description of them. Pearl Jam fans are usually next level (I should know they are my all time no1) but the average person has probably never even heard of them despite them selling nearly 90 million records. Also not just musically that they tanked their own career at it's height to take a stand against Ticketmaster (when everyone wussed out) will forever make me love them.
