Finally some decent competion for engwe. Only problem is that they are falsely advertising these ebikes as 250W. It's the label on the wheel that matters. If it says 1000w then thats all the police and law courts will be interested in.

Agreed about the competition. Anyone going 15.5 on this is never going to get into trouble. Maybe if they're not pedalling going over 20 but not someone who to their own kowledge is complying with the law.
@kevinh96
Жыл бұрын
Not technically true, the legislation covers maximum continuous power output and pretty much every single e-bike motor on the planet, even those few actually designed for 250w continuous, have a peak output much higher. Obviously that's not the case with the bike in this video, but the vast majority of manufacturers do what this company does now as it's probably just not economically viable for them to make 250w specific motors. Most companies will throw in a bigger motor and electronically limit it to comply with restrictions in the target market. In my eyes, and probably in the eyes of most police officers, it's like owning a Bugatti in the UK. Your car has huge power and is capable of insane speeds but you're not going to get pulled over if you are driving sensibly and within the law, same thing for bikes like this I would think. I am sure if some forces wanted to they could crack down and pull some folks over and word would get around but that would be overkill. Trading Standards sometimes see things differently and they could prosecute the manufacturers as could the DVSA who have actually already done so in the case of Mate E-Bikes.

Hiya I’ve been trying to find information about pvy and how long the company has been making bikes. I see that engwe has been around for around 10 years so a pedigree of sorts is evident. PVY is a cheaper and lighter alternative but I have a question about the pedal assist. I understand how the torque sensor on the Engwe engine pro 2.0 works. Am I right in thinking that if I pedal slowly on the PVY z20 plus 1000 with maximum assistance, it will simply continue to accelerate to its maximum speed (for the conditions)?
@e-VRC
3 ай бұрын
That's right. If you don't want it to go max speed just put it in a lower assist level. Torque sensors are good for setting off say up a hill if you don't have a throttle. They're also good for people who want the bike to feel more like a normal bike. Lazier people like me actually secretly prefer the cheaper cadence sensor like on this bike. As long as there's a throttle to aid setting off of course.

Maybe it is ok when you use the throttle, but this is not allowed in Germany. The next part I changed was the rear suspension. I used a air suspension that really works, the original had no effect for me. Now I am almost happy. I would prefer a „Drehmomentsensor“ ( I do not know the english name) as PAS, it would work more natural. A little bit disapointed am I from the batterie. A suppressed motor that acts as a 250w. Only two ways to do it. Manufacture a motor as 250w to do 15.5 mph or use a bike computer to limit it to 15.5 mph for road use. But people are allowed to alter the settings to do 20 mph off road with a higher motor, so they have to have changeable settings otherwise they need two bikes, one for road and one for off road or taking their bike with them when on holiday. What could happen is someone goes off road and sets it at 30 mph, then when they go back on road, they forget to change it back and if there is an accident after, then they start looking

If someone forgets to switch the setting back to road use, the bike itself is still legal, the actions of the rider is not. We all know it's a contentious issue. Probably police cannot tell the difference if someone changes the settings to 20 mph and a rider is doing 18 mph on road.

Cheers for any advice here mate! Also @pvyebike , I read on another comment here that a recently bought Z20 1000 Plus now has 250w written on the rear wheel, rather than 1000w, is this correct? Engwe Pro azer bike is amazing but his garbage along term quality wise. I'm still going through a massive argument about the rear frame actually shearing making the bike unraidable I cannot recommend this bike

I’m so confused!!! I initially wanted the Engwe l20 but then decided I needed a folding bike. Then I saw this and loved but then came across the engwe folding (pro engine not sure but it had 8 gears , you reviewed it) and now I have no idea which bike to buy. 😂HELP.
@e-VRC

Haha they're all great. If you need a folder then you get better gears on the engine pro but other than that they're pretty equal.

Probably I would too. Personally I would mind a 24 speed MTB with assist and throttle but they seem to be becoming extinct and things are shunted down to 7 gears even in this type of bike. Pedaling with 24 gears is better than 6, 7, 8 or 9 after cut off. Even 18 gears is better than 8. Engine X is good too

On sandy lane? I hope I waved back! I usually end up selling the bike after review on FB marketplace. You should contact on ig or email to check after a review if you like the look. Selling Avaka R1 next. Was going to do a full review but they don't seem to sell the bike anymore and they aren't responding to my emails.

Your peddle like mad to get that speed wheres the enjoyment of the bike you don't ride a bike like that it shoud just come naturally the bike you need is 1500wat or 2000wat

Dunno if you kept watching but i got 26 with no power from me which is a good speed, lighter people probably get 28. 33mph is a better headline than '26 maybe 28' plus I like to see if the gears allow you to help.

Yes I think its definitely only 250w theres lots of 250w ebikes that can do 30mph they all can I think 😉😉

Z20 PLUS is a 1000W motor. When shipped from the factory, we limit the power to 250W to comply with public road requirements, The user can then unlock it themselves and return the power to 1000W.

DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE. It's of very poor quality. It may look nice and work well for the first few months, but then you'll start seeing problems. I've had mine for over 6 months. After the first time I folded it, the handlebar folding pin came off in my hand. The battery no longer charges fully, and with the little charge it does hold, I can't go more than a couple of kilometers. The charger doesn't work properly anymore either. To top it off, the customer service is awful and slow. They take weeks to respond. I'm still waiting to hear what I should do now that the bike is unusable. Spend a few hundred euros more on another product because it will definitely be worth it.

If you don't need a step thru and extra cargo then probably this. I prefer the frame of the L20 but the z20 plus has higher spec gear.
