Great video and great tip. Just a note to you and anyone else interested- Most chaps are made without your leg length measurements in mind, but you can cut them down to fit true. The bottom edge is unhemmed leather and will remain as such unless you have a leather worker hem them to your measurements.

As someone with disproportionately long limbs, I'm actually considering this. My fingers and toes get cold way too easily. I just ordered a set of handguards for my '09 RG and was thinking of putting fairing lowers on (which I hate the look of) but this might be more economical and put my saddlebags to more use.

I bought a pair of chaps a few days after this video came out because I was having the same problem commuting to work on the highway in the 30s and these are a game changer. My legs actually do get hot when it's 40 and up with the liner in even cruising at 65 (with kevlar lined jeans underneath). I never knew chaps had zippers on the sides, but the fact you can just rip them off in 20 seconds put me over the edge on buying them. Thanks for your video.

If our roads didn't EAT frames, I would definitely be picking a pair up. Chaps are also a win on longer fall or spring rides where you find yourself riding through light rain or heavy fog/mist.

Got a set of the Patriot Chaps based on your review, I am very happy with the purchase they are exactly as you described and work well for me in cold riding and are comfortable wearing indoors also.

Years ago I acquired a set of Joe Rocket overpants that are great winter pants and if I'm going on a long winter ride, I still grab them, but they take up a lot of space in my locker, my saddlebags and aren't fun if you need to use the restroom, something that isn't a problem with chaps...I should probably get a set, my buddy Mike has a real nice set of brown leather chaps that look very cowboyish in the best possible way! Maybe next winter.

I’ll Sport my Chaps or smarty pants. In the short winter months here in Texas. I remember getting a email add about custom chaps from first MFG couple of years ago in the ad they might’ve been light brown with a Mexican blanket liner could be wrong lol

Did you not wear a leather jacket before you tried the chaps? Leather is for protection and breaking the wind. I thought all chaps were long and trim to fit. My last pair was... They were also unlined

I used to always ride with Chaps in the Cold and Long Runs....But now i ride with leather flat tracker/Sport rider pants...I got too stiff/older to be able comfortably bend over to put chaps on and off standing up...

Even with no snow, chaps are a go. You'd be suprised how cold it gets in the antipodes despite the lack of snow. These will be a consideration. ⚡️

Many years back, I worked with a old timer NYPD HighwayPatrol officer, told me little secret they used, when they rode the bikes in the winter they would put newspaper down the legs of their uniform pants to block the wind

Honestly pant liners are great but with me. Im on the spectrum so my pants tend to be a little tighter fit cause otherwise id lose my mind. With that being said. Having pant liners under my already tight pants does get pretty uncomfortable. And then yeah not being able to take them off right away. Ive slways considered chaps but being 6'3 and 255lbs its hard to find the right size

I would NEVER introduce and vehicle I truly love to road salt. It's a machine wrecker. Rust and corrosion turns the machine into something that gets real hard to love. I can deal with the slippery stuff but not the salty stuff. I hate rusty things. I don't get my cycles out until there has been a street-washing rain. A good thick leather vest is great too when you don't want your shirt slapping your nipples...sounds silly but leather is a decent thing neck to toe. But still wouldn't want any of that stuff covered with salt. I knew nothing of MFG until seeing your stuff. I've be loyal to Vanson for a long time. They also have great, locally made leathers. Joe Rocket and similar? Nah. Buy local.
