Just throwing it out there just in case but the Hayabusa is also the fastest flying bird 🐦 in Japan. But the story about it taking down blackbirds as food makes total sense now! I never heard what you said either. So if we put our 2 sides together, it would be "fastest flying bird that preys on blackbirds" 🤯 Shiiiiit.😅😊 Awesome video too man!

I knew a guy who got a Hayabusa as a first bike. He was an ex-soldier who found comfort from his PTSD in adrenaline. He rode it in jeans and flipflops with no helmet. After just three months of ownership, he did a big build and turbo'd it. He would often say, "With how fast I go, no safety equipment is going to help." He had the bike for five years and when it died, so did he. At 180mph. Into a section of dense pine woods. The road was about 30 feet higher than the woods, so he chopped 100 or so small pines down. Rest in peace rocket cowboy.

my first bike was a Hayabusa. I was 24 years old. My dad actually found the bike. I'd never ridden a dirt bike or anything on 2 wheels, not even a scooter. Plenty of 20 inch BMX bikes, that's it. I learned how to ride on that bike, rode about 40 miles to take my obstacle course test to get my license. Never scratched that bike, put maybe 5k on it. Paid 8500 in 2001 and sold it for 8500 in 04, wanted something smaller so I bought a 04 GSXR1000 mladin edition. Funny, but my friend got a CBR 600 f4i I found that was like new and I loved that bike. My son got me a f4i I had been wanting a few months back. I'm planning to keep it forever So I went way backwards. My busa was fast, it was stock, but that busa was way more tame than the 1000cc Gixxer I replaced it with. The busa was like a Cadillac. It would cruise at 150mph like nothing and the faster ya went the smoother it felt. My new to me CBR tops out at around 150 and I'd never ride it that fast. I wouldn't recommend a Hayabusa for anyone for a first bike, but my dad wasn't crazy. He knew I would be ultra cautious with the bike. while I had zero 2 wheel experience, I did have significant experience on a race track in drag racing and oval street stock racing, some late model experience. I had no problem with the bike. I felt comfortable really quick. The throttle wasn't touchy, even my son's new Ninja Z6 KRT has a touchier throttle and is more nervous to ride. The busa was solid and easy to ride.

Most people don’t know that the Busa’s headlight casts the shadow of a falcon on the ground. Not sure if the Gen2 and 3’s have it. While I think the busa is cool, I’ve already tried one out in my college days. Did a 1 week swap with my buddy. He borrowed my R1 and I took his busa. So ultimately after my R1 I just decided to downgrade to a CBR600RR and that pretty much solidified my life as a rider. 🤷♂️

CBR600RR is a solid choice, how do the insurance rates compare?
@Q_N-
21 күн бұрын
@@jimstenlund6017 At that time I was in my 20’s, it was around 2011. Being that age, progressive made it abundantly clear to me that my insurance is going to be expensive. Especially because of my 09 R1. They consider it a “high performance” bike. Even when I told them I’d just be riding it for casual, they couldn’t care less. I was quoted at the time, 224$ per month for collision, and a whopping 350$ per month for comprehensive. The difference in rate dropped SIGNIFICANTLY when I swapped to my new 2012 CBR600rr. Since I owed around 2000$ on my loan with Honda, they required me to automatically get comprehensive. Which was only 260ish per month if I remember correctly. I was shocked at the crazy drop in insurance cost, but completely relieved I wasn’t paying nearly 4K per year anymore. By the end of the day, super sport and liter bikes will always cost more to insure. And if you penny pinch, you could opt for just collision damage and skip comprehensive, but I would NOT recommend that. Nowadays my 2020 600rr is only 48$ per month with StateFarm. It’s incredibly low since I’m 38 now and I’ve been a StateFarm insurance member for 8years now. 👍 sorry for the long back story

However, I see people doing 80 in first gear with the front tire off the ground(or at least that's what being narrated) and went to go find an ostrich hole to stuff my head in. I still want one. I bought my first busa last year. It's a 2007 and was like a beat shelter dog when I got it. The exhaust had been chopped off to dump pipes. The plastics have an access hole cut to get to the coolant tank. The speedo is partially melted because the windscreen acted like a magnifying glass. Front forks are starting seep a little. The clutch and brake lever have both been broken to about half their length. I keep a box of screws to replace them as they fall out. After tossing some new pipes on though, it's one of my favorite bikes to date. Sure you have to throw it down into a corner and man-handle it. The brakes are abysmal and feel like you're stopping an up armored humvee that was doing 70mph. Yes, everyone wants to race you everywhere - and should you partake, you're not going to beat a modern liter bike. However, it is extremely comfortable and even with 50k on the clock has been bulletproof. This will be the last year for my 'busa, the chassis is just too far past it's prime and it's time for something new(er). The motor is likely going to be shoe-horned into my Yamaha Raptor 660 for funsies.

I only take it out four times a month early in the morning just at sunrise ride for about an hour and park the bike basically it’s adrenaline rush that I need. I’m not stupid enough to drive on open highways. I’ve got about 15 mile stretch of protected highway on both sides with big walls so there’s no critters. They can jump out in front of me and there’s no traffic that early in the morning. Get it up to max and do sprints and then I take it home and and park it. I’m not a dumbass. I’ve got a full racing suit with all the armor . I have experience on the track it very high-speed over long period of time and I don’t do wheelies showing Off is for idiots . Out of all my bikes my 08 busa is by far the most reliable, just regular maintenance and tires. I never understood a turbo on a Busa. Why it almost goes 200 miles an hour. Why do you need a damn turbo? It’s just a quick way to shorten the engine life. I’ll be happy to watch people blow up their bike because it’s pretty cool to watch someone be a dumbass.

The only problem with the hayabusa is that if you are 6'3" tall or taller it won't be good for you at all because the bike simply isn't tall enough to keep your knees at a comfortable level for long distance riding and going around mountains bends is a pain in the ass with all that damn weight. Enters the 2023 bmw s1000 XR/s1000R/M1000R to the rescue. These bikes are tall enough for a 6'3" person plus all can be brought to the race track and ridden back home on the same day, with comfort; as well as going on long distance 1,000 mile(or more) touring without issues to the body !!

I just watched the original “So you want a Hayabusa” this morning. To my surprise, this came out today and I’m also watching it now. Bought a Honda Blackbird a few weeks ago, but have always loved the Busa

you probably made the better decision. Blackbirds are more than fast enough not to matter and are utterly bomb proof

The Blackbird is also way more rare to see on the road. So you have something that’s much more unique… and plenty fast enough.

The name Hayabusa was response to competitor Honda Blackbird. Falcons hunts blackbirds. It is similar reference as today between Ford Raptor and Ram TRX (read t-rex).

Yes it is a distinctive one of a kind bike which is why I like it . Ive never really thought it was ugly but I see why many would because it doesnt look like other bikes which tend to look the same , ie they look like Moto GP or Superbikes . Unless they are the naked/street bike look - nothing wrong with these but I like this

Have no clue how a lot of people find hayabusa ugly, I saw it half a year ago live in a car show and fell in love with it.
