your reasons for starting a shop are similar to my own, but more from a design perspective! I have a very unique look on gowns and I'm tired of seeing the same design in every store.

@@LouiseperrybridalUk Thank you so much! The information was very helpful indeed. though I was wondering on whether you thought it would be wise to open a store that has next to no competition? A few videos I have seen have stated that having other bridal shops close by would be good for business as a lot of brides like to make a day of dress shopping and like to go to more than one store, but with where I live, there isn't anything close at all (I know this through my own bridal shopping experience) In fact the closest bridal shop requires me to travel 4-5 hours. would this be a problem?

Starting your bridal shop what was your first plan stock like eg..the AMT of dresses u started with and what is the average size dresses yo select and size to start up with and also do u sell bridesmaid what was your stock at first
@LouiseperrybridalUk

Hi Alvina, I started with around 30 dresses but then built up my stock as I went along to around 70 dresses. I only do wedding dresses as I have a small shop so I don't do bridesmaids. Sizes I have approximately one third of dresses in sizes 8 - 12, one third sizes 14 - 18 and one third sizes 20 - 26. This is something I've changed a bit over the years to reflect my market. I hope that helps, and thanks for commenting on my video! If you want to find out more about stock I have a new video coming up, about choosing your stock. :)

Hello Louise. I found this video so informative. Thank you I am in the process of building my business plan. I live in South Wales. I am looking to stock 50 dresses on start up. You menriin not making any money in the first 3 years. Do you mean that you shoukd make enough money for running the shop in the coming year but just not make any profut or literally not even making enough money to run the business for the 12 months going forward. Thank you. Cant wait for your reply.

Hi Louise, thank you for the video. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer. I am in the US and was thinking about starting my bridal shop/boutique. However, my business mentor told me that it's probably not the best idea to start a bridal boutique given that people are getting married less and it's a shrinking industry. This really discouraged me. I was wondering if that is a real issue in the industry? Is this the wrong time to go into the bridal boutique industry? Also, in my city we have a lot of big name bridal stores and it seems like there are every kind of bridal store you can imagine. So, I'm not sure where my boutique would fit in. Additionally, I don't have any wedding industry experience. How should I go about learning the industry and learning to be a consultant for a bride? How did you become a bridal dress expert per se? I thought about calling local bridal shop owners, but wasn't sure if they would be open to sharing because I would be future competition. Does that make sense? Your reply would be much appreciated.
