Dr. Falk, did the Ancient Egyptians believe that their gods literally looked like how they were portrayed?, i.e. if an Egyptian Pharaoh entered the afterlife, he would be talking face-to-face with Anubis as a humanoid with a Jackal head, Khepera a human body with a giant Scarab for a head, Sobek a human with a Crocodile head, and their gods literally looking like how the Egyptians drew them in the world of the living, etc. Or did Egyptians believe that these drawings and statues were just artistic/metaphorical representations of their gods, and that their gods were in reality spirits with no discernible physical appearance?, like how for example, classical Western Christian art portrays God the Father as a Moses-esque old man with a big beard, but in Christian theology, only God the Son has a human body, and God the Father is a spirit with no physical body?

Dr. Falk, thank you for your videos. They mean more to me than I can say, especially concerning the evidence for the exodus. I was wondering, do you have any books available, or do you have any that you would recommend that could be used as the basis for a short teaching series on the evidence for the exodus? I would love to take some time this coming school year to teach my seniors in our Christian school about this before they head off to college and be misinformed. I ask you, because I know there are a lot of books out there that can be used to teach about the evidence for the exodus, but your case in particular is very compelling and free from a lot of the apologetic errors that a lot of people make. I don’t want to teach people about evidence that doesn’t actually exist or that is promoting a chronology that doesn’t make sense.
