I’m WA we are required to teach spelling as well. But we translate the law as, we have to teach spelling sometime in our homeschool journey (ie, not every year). I use a formal spelling curriculum for 2 of my kids and I don’t for 2. Those 2 learn spelling through just correcting their writing anytime they make spelling mistakes. Knowing WA vs. Texas, I’m guessing the same thing would work for Texas if you don’t want to do formal curriculum every year.

What a great idea. I knew our oldest was getting plenty of spelling practice just from reading and writing, but I was definitely excited to see a program that has spelling into grade 8.

I have one that struggles as well! Please give an update on this one. We are currently working through All About Spelling Level 2 with my 10 year old. We are loving Winning with Writing from the same company as Soaring with Spelling. 😊

I’ll do an update once we get into the program. Some of our girls have already started and love it but our son hasn’t started. I’ve been curious about winning with writing. I may have to look into it if it’s helping your struggling speller. Our son struggles so much with writing. Thanks so much for being here!

Even tho we have to use a phonics based curriculum for spelling due to dyslexia I think adding vocabulary in would be awesome!!! Phonics based spelling on its own is boring!!! I don’t expect my kids to do well with a boring spelling curriculum as I know it’s would make them loose instrest!!! I love that it shows the words in cursive!!!

Ooh. What program do y’all use? Our son hates anything to do with writing. He’s improving but it’s definitely a struggle for him. Thanks so much for sharing and watching!!
