WEEKEND WOGAN 10th ANNIVERSARY SERIES - Show 7/35
ALBERT LEE WEEK - Song 2 of 6 - 'Sober Siri'.
12.04pm, live on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, 28 March 2010.
Knowing that Albert Lee was going to be our special guest for this show, it was a no brainer that one of my three song choices would be my own song ‘Sober Siri’ for which Albert had played lead guitar on my album, ‘A Seat At My Table’.
I remember writing this song in 1991 when I was playing piano bars in beautiful Norway three or four months a year for several years. It’s autobiographical, about a young lady called Siri who I met in a town called Mandal. I had recently bought a guitar in Mandal to keep me company whilst I was away and this song instantly sprang from it one afternoon. I knew that when I would eventually get around to recording it, I would want Country guitar licks all over it. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that those guitar licks would one day be played by the greatest Country-picking guitar player in the world, Albert Lee. 🎸 💃🏻😁❤️
