I wish that being that socially awkward could be fixed so easily. Watching a film or reading a book isn't going to do much if you've been that way all your life, especially when the other kids have formed their opinions of you. Our impulse to be socially awkward has existed forever-it’s easier to stay home and not be with other people-but it is one of the few mental health disorders you just get over once you stop being so self centered and stop thinking that “everyone’s thinking about you”
@heidithomas5455
4 жыл бұрын
There are different degrees of social anxiety from just not knowing what to say to full blown panic attacks. What may work for one person, may not be that simple to fix for another. We cannot stereotype everybody, fit them into a box with just one lable and call it even. Everyone has different reactions to social settings and it is not up to us to say how to fix other people's problems. Only a trained therapist can do that.
@elleofhearts8471
4 жыл бұрын
@@Women_Rock it's not being self centered. people with social anxiety focus on themselves so much because they want to appeal to and please others. how else are they going to do that when 1)they dont know what other people want from them and 2)with this gap of knowledge, their never sure if theyre doing the right things because getting people to like you is a slow process (if you dont instantly "click" with most people) and every interaction you have can drastically shape the image others have of you. assumed irreparably. people with social anxiety just want to fit in and be accepted and they just dont know how to obtain that. So their thoughts get turned inwards to figure out what they can change about themselves in order to be accepted. After all, you can only change yourself, not how other people react to you.

I'm not MGTOW at all, but honestly so many modern women are terrible these days. So I can understand their sentiment.. Girls want to do whatever they want, get fucked up, bang dozens of dudes, then finally settle down at like 30 and expect to find a man to who will value and take care of them? Hell no. No guy wants a used up woman who spent her prime being promiscuous. And unfortunately our culture promotes that. It's a hard truth.

Ok, a video might help, but it may not hold. I say mandate parenting classes. People should be raising kids, not tv. That was what got us in this predicament to begin with. TV and video games replaced parenting and then cell phones compounded the problem. Parents became hands off, and kids lost communication skills. No one talks about anything anymore. Unplug is what I say. Get back to family.
@Women_Rock
4 жыл бұрын
Heidi Thomas I agree with your statement; I probably should have rephrased what I meant. More so that it shouldn’t be taboo in youth education to address such personality issues of self centeredness as it is today. Most social disorders that have become a particular issue today come from children and teenagers being idle (playing video games or indulging their social media addictions) and refusing to entertain normal interactions and social confrontations.
@heidithomas5455
4 жыл бұрын
@@Women_Rock I am a teacher and I have a theory as to why millennials are self centered adult children. It starts at home, parents don't know how to let kids play. They've catered activities and starting at an early age. For example, mommy and me classes, story time at the library, game play at kids museums, play dates, enrolled them in soccer, ballet, etc. Now, im not saying one of these activities is wrong, but parents don't stop at just one. They've enrolled their infant/toddler in everything and have their whole week taken up by all of these activities. These kids have had their entire babyhood carved out for them. Then they enter preschool. The day is structured with a few scattered toys, but everything focuses on education. Kids are expected to know how to read and write, and do math going into kindergarten. Kindergarten is so regemated with learning that there is no more play time. Where was the sit down and bang on pots, build with blocks, put together tinker toys? What happened to recess three times a day, games in the classroom like 7up, who has the bone? Immaginitive play has been almost wiped out. Kids don't really have a childhood. Everything has been structured for them. They don't hear no, everyone makes the team, and gets the prize for participation. School and pencil/paper learning starts when they are three(way to early in my opinion). Babies should be able to explore their world with just their family, and learn to touch and see at their own pace. Toddlers should have experience with quiet play on their own by building with blocks, racing cars, and learning to problem solve through imaginative play. School age kids should be outside running around more. Playing on the playground without teachers intervening so much taught us to solve our own problems, create our own games, come up with rules and there were winners and losers, but we learned how to communicate and take offense without being triggered. We grew up with tough love and knew how negotiate logically. These millennials whine and complain, but they never had a childhood so they've become perpetual children longing to play and in the adult world there's no time for it. I know this is long but it breaks down what I feel is the generation's problems and I hope schools and parents see where they went wrong and find a solution.
