Regime changes often have direct discrete intentional causes, and as such they can be identified. This isn’t to say that they don’t utilize existing dynamics which were near a critical state and are far more complex and unidentifiable as to specific causes.

Indeed, the subtle political moment notwithstanding. I am not sure whether you noticed what was wrong with the European political map example - all of the Balkan countries' respective cultures (or cultural evolutions) weren't marked as their attractors. The Balkan peninsula just had been left empty. The obvious insinuation is that this particular region isn't part of the Old continent culturally (and by extension - politically).
