I lived in iraq and was 5 year old during invation. But still remember things when i was 7. When america bombed iraq they bombed to the extent that they pushed the country's infrastructure back to before 1920. There was chaos and some looting but things get back to order quickly. Not in the security matter as americans and iran was activally supporting sectarianism but socially. When he mentioned this i immediately remembered how people started helping eachother like my father carrying the injured and our neighbour cooking for the rest of thr neighbourhood. We still maintained the sense of community. While in the west were i lived in australia. The moment corona hit people started hording everything as pathetic stuff as toilet paper. People were worried about wiping their as more than caring about the more vulnerable. Even my house mate who owed the house singled that he might kick me and my other mate out the house if our jobs stopped and we werent getting paid any more. Only that time i knew how weak the westren socity is. Individualism create weak societies

nonamex :: Your last sentence :: "Individualism create weak societies". That is a great argument against the reality of living in the West ! The United States is the greatest capitalistic country on earth. The economic policies of Ronald Reagan/Margaret Thatcher in Britain, made it clear that individualism was human destiny. Thatcher went as far to say :: " There's no such thing as 'societies' ". Their plan was Neo-Liberalism. The "Objectivism" of Ayn Rand. The capitalists' system functions better if people are unconnected and selfish. No matter ! There are many Americans who will band together to donate food/clothing and money when there is a natural disaster anywhere in the United States or other countries. Your comment is, nonetheless, very profound and accurately described the Western countries, under capitalism. I will definitely remember it !

There is no individualism in the United States. Its an illusion. People are sheep who do whatever the government and media tells them. The masses aren't free-thinkers and never will be, and this doesn't apply to just Americans. The whole world was put in a face diaper while hoarding toilet paper within two weeks. I'm sure you mean "individualism" as in "selfishness" - which would be a better way to say it. Even in intact family units people act selfishly. Tribes are no different. Human nature is wicked to the core and a person will use whatever system that's in place to acquire as much material as possible. We were told that toilet paper was going to be scarce and what did people do? They went out and hoarded it. That was one of the biggest social experiments I've ever seen and they did it out in the open with no fear of kickback. Everyone lined up rank and file to get their pokes too. Tribalism, individialism; it doesn't matter. Human beings are just selfish people in whatever social situation they're put in.

Clearly. I was in an Islamic like position because of my particular family and friends during the pandemic which included many Muslims. We lived communal and helped each other as much as possible. It was exceeding disheartening to see the violence, the cruelty, the greed, the savagery of people who were allegedly neighbors, allegedly Christians - not sure what the Buddhists, the atheists, the agnostics, the Hindus were doing. The isolation was real. The media were hateful and unreliable. The underlying fascism in the society became evident. The carceral state rose with vengeance and savagery. Thousands died, their dignity wasted, their bodies stacked in freezers outside hospitals and morgues. Children committed society. Wild boys stalked the streets, shooting each other, assaulting girls! Elders cowered in their homes lonely, hungry and afraid. The poor became poorer. The rich became richer. A society so formed and governed cannot stand. We see that now, globally BUT truly all systems, all politics, all governance is local. Look to your neighbor and be advised by the reality as to next steps. I keep a small close circle and travel advisedly to connect with other civilized and likeminded peoples. And I pray!

When the George Flloyd protests broke out, I remember looking down from my high rise apartment onto Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago and watched people break down windows of high end stores and rob them blind. I lived above one of those. I had just had a baby and I remember looking down and thinking “subhan Allah i wish I was in a Muslim country because when things get bad, I don’t have to fear what evil and carnage a believer is capable of the way i do now” I do not mean any harm or political judgement on the movement, I am not learned enough to comment on this-i simply realized right there and then what you are describing and that is a Muslim’s internal compass and willingness to self govern and submit to Allah makes others safe from their harm.

Once again, thank you brother Shahid for your words of wisdom. Per chance do you have a reading list or a few books of recommendation? I wish to abandoned my westerner education and thought process. I am grateful of your content, but I have an appetite to learn more.

Allah sent islam as a mercy to humanity. This is captured in the holy Quran when Allah addreses the bearer of the message of islam, our beloved prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in suratul An-biyaah "And we have not sent you, (oh Muhammad) except as a mercy to the worlds" (Quran 21:107) The message he brought is a mercy to mankind.

Someone asked in the comments section some book references. I guess there is one reference that aligns perfectly with our brother Shahid thought. Change: Principles of Problem Formation and Problem Resolution (paul waszlawick John Weakland ; Richard Fisch). I invite anyone to propose other references because one should not be just a passive viewer who entertains himself.

Its so true what you‘re saying. In western societies the moral conducts are based on conformity and sometimes even outright coercion. Here its all based on moral high grounds while the morals themselves fluctuate like the weather. Take the climate crisis for example. Here in switzerland they took parking space to plant trees there because they think it‘ll be better for the climate. Its basically restriction of others rights based on mandatory morality. Edit: but what i would like to ask is how does this all play into the subjugation of the ordinary people to not achieve any sort of self-determination, who are able to move in social hierarchy to create an impact. I mean socioeconomic mobility is more or less vanishing

In my own city we're like 5,000 of the same sub-tribe, part of the 150K of the main tribe, and a total of around 5M mega-tribe. Things like that I think Westerners won't understand as they broke the chains centuries back. The extremely loneliness that some have in the West must be devastating.

11:45 That was preconditioning. They were showing the public that it was appropriate to act terrible and selfishly in a post apocalypse scenario. That already happened; it was the pandemic event, which was a big social experiment.
