Hello, it is humanity's greatest survival story. True story. You can't stop watching the movie! I am from Uruguay, the country of birth of the survivors of this accident, and I had children of survivors of the accident as classmates at school.

i agree with your statement, but i would add "known story" cause im sure our ancestors endured some similar situations throughout history, and thats how we came to be the dominant species. truly spectacular

Yes, it´s a true story. Those were the survivors of Uruguayan Air Force flight 571 from Montevideo (Uruguay) to Santiago (Chile) via Mendoza (Argentina). They were forced to eat the deceased in order to survive because there was nothing edible up there in the snowy Andes... Even the church commented on this and said it was a matter of life and death and compared it to communion, so no sin was commited. Add to it that they were/are very catholic. Of 45 people onboard, 16 survived. Quite a story back in 1972 and still is now.

The accident was in the Southern Hemisphere, on the Andes mountain. It was a plane accident. They survived 72 days on one of the coldest winters registered, without proper clothes with a temperature of -30 degrees and even more (at that point Fahrenheit and Celsius have similar numbers), they fell in winter (October 13 to around December 22) beginning of summer

This movie is the true story of the survivors from their perspective and not the Hollywood version Alive

On theatre in December, on Netflix in January. It’s based on the book of the same name about the accident occurred on The Andes in 1972.

You might be thinking of the Donner Party where a bunch of people got lost in the mountains in the 1840's and had to survive from eating the dead. But this story was already told in 1993 in a movie called Alive. In 1972, a rugby team's plane crashed in the Andes Mountains and I believe the survivors lived off the crashed plane for 2 maybe 3 months before they got rescued.
