For any person saying "just put it on normally" You clearly don't understand that this is an aid for people who have DISABILITIES NOT FOR LAZY PEOPLE. Not everyone is able to bend over and put their socks on!! And not every child is able to do it on their own because yes! Kids can be disabled!!! Some disabilities can't be seen! And you don't need to be disabled to want to make devices to help people who are!!! Consider yourself lucky you don't need something like this but don't act so damn ignorant thinking aid devices are for lazy people!! People like me who have chronic pain can benefit from something like this!!

I am not disabled but I did have to have 2 major back surgeries as a baby, which has resulted in me dealing with some level of back pain for my entire life, especially if I stand in one place for too long. Luckily never had anyone actually say something to me, but I’ve definitely gotten plenty of judgmental looks over the years from older people if I’ve mentioned my back hurting around them. Few times I’ve randomly brought up my back history to whoever I was actually talking too and boy seeing the judgey peoples faces fall is satisfying 😂
@haleyfravel8985

Yes! And honestly, even calling it disabled feels weird, in my opinion, if you can use an aid like this to do it independently. In my own experience (and you are welcome to your own opinion, even if you flat out disagree! I am not trying to start a debate or convince you to agree, just sharing how I view it) I am not disabled, nor am I old. I am differently abled, in that I just have mobility issues that make certain tasks harder. Putting on socks, buttoning certain sized buttons, etc. Some of those issues are caused by chronic illnesses that will never go away, and others are from temporary injuries that will fade as I heal, but none of which make it so that I can't do things independently. I hate taking the label of "disabled" as the reason I use these, not because I don't think it is an ok label to use when it is accurate, but because there are many people with much more severe challenges than I have that DO have true disabilities. I am DIFFERENTLY abled, but not DISabled. I need tools to help me stay independent, but with the right supports, I am ABLE to do things on my own. When the time comes that I can't use those tools, and require another person's assistance, or cannot complete a task at all, THEN I'll say I have a disability (temporary or otherwise). But for me, labeling things as being for someone who is old, or has a disability, automatically makes me feel like I don't qualify to use it. But labeling things as assistive devices to help with X task makes it so much easier for me to feel like it's okay for me to use it. I don't usually let those labels stop me from using the equipment I need, but I hate how uncomfortable I feel when I see those labels that are just unnecessary.

Geez, as someone with a disability that doesn’t particularly hinder most of my daily activities, this product is one that would have improved my quality of life since I was a small child. People legit do not understand how hard it is for me to put on pants and socks and always say “you look fine,” ah yes I love contorting myself every morning. I can’t rotate my left hip or bend my left knee all the way, I have been having issues with socks and pants since I was three, of course I make it look easy by now! I need this, I wish I knew it existed sooner. I’m gonna have to bookmark this product for when I can afford to buy it. If only there was one of these for boots.

As a single parent that has had multiple operations, having to ask my son to help my put my socks on was honestly an awful feeling ! Whilst he is always more than happy to help in anyway he can, the little things like this help people keep their independence. Which can mean more than you know ! 🙏💖

Did u know, u can put on socks with a towel as well? In my opinion it works even better 😎 The sockaid doesn’t work well with all types of socks, the towel does. 👍

I ripped open my abdominal wall while working and it’s been a year and a half with no real decline in pain. I can’t bend, twist, or sit up for very long anymore. Still getting used to being physically disabled, it still feels like I’m being “lazy” and seeing people insult things like this just makes me feel uncomfortable and like I should just suffer and be in pain instead of just make life easier.

I'm assuming it's because they assume the kids have people to tend to them and help them but I feel like learning to do stuff on your own as much as you can is really important, disabled people struggling when they have to live on their own because they aren't aware of the tools they could get to help is really sad

Oh my gosh, I need one of these. I was born is hip dysplasia and can’t lift my left leg sideways past my lower right calf/ankle so I always have to awkwardly bend forward to put it on my foot and then bends backwards to pull the sock onto my left foot. This would make it so easy!

My mom could've used this a while back. She had to keep her spine as straight as possible back then otherwise there would be too much pressure on her disks. This would've helped her. She has bad scoliosis, and she doesn't want to get surgery on her spine because her dad and i think grandpa did and they lost feeling in their legs..

I've had chronic fatigue syndrome, and used to have fibromyalgia too, since I was 15 or so and during my worst periods of pain and fatigue I was so tired and sore that bending down to put socks on, even sitting down, felt like the hardest thing in the world. You can be disabled at any age, including during childhood.

It's a type of mobility aid. There are some people like me who can't bend down, let it be for a variety of reasons, that need help doing things like picking things up off the floor, putting shoes on, or in this case, socks.

Glad you asked instead of assuming! She's an occupational therapist demonstrating how to use different accessibility tools for disabled people! Says so in the hashtags in case you missed it. This could be used because of pain, lack of mobility, dizziness, or maybe even numbness. Could be a long term disability or something more short term like recovering from surgery.
