A few questions: So you can't use a regular household "pancake" compressor? It has to be larger (and probably more expensive)? You flip in replies between saying you use medium and fine soda. Which one do you actually use and what's the difference between them? Why/when would you use fine as opposed to medium? uAlso, does it matter how close you have the gun to the piece? Does closer damage the wood at all? Lastly (I think) do yo have to clean the soda off the wood before doing anythng else (staining, etc.)?
@the323vlog4
7 ай бұрын
It’s all about the power of the compressor. If you can find a pancake that meets the cfm requirements of the gun, then you should be good. I probably misspoke , but I use the medium grade baking soda from harbor freight. They also sell a large grease which would be more abrasive. I would say the chances in damaging the wood increase as you get closer to the surface, so as a precaution I start further away and test it in inconspicuous areas. In all Honesty it’s not great for all scenarios but when it works, it works really well. I work with a lot of older pieces that are stained and my customers want a full refinish, and it works great after those detailed areas. If you’re trying to work on heavily painted surfaces, I wouldn’t recommend it for that. Thanks for the questions!

I used the very same gun today on a walnut and burl hutch. They're really good. Not a miracle . Some of the detail did require some scrapping and some sanding but that's subjective depending on how clean you want something. The thumbnail for this vid is entirely misleading as the insinuation that this little stool/sofa leg was stripped with the soda blaster is pure fantasy. You can buy that very same peg leg at HD or Lowes. So for those with no soda blasting experience, they're really great and a perfect alternative to sanding or the more useless chemical stripping, but they're not a magic wand
@the323vlog4
2 жыл бұрын
It was not my intention to insinuate that the leg was stripped using the gun, but that it is used for the purpose if stripping details similar to this. in my experience, it has in fact stripped 99% of my projects to bare wood like this, so I do consider it a “magic wand”. Hope you learn to fine tune it’s performance for you In The future
