Ironically Allan always dismissed is earlier material, in fact he was rarely positive about anything he produced. But, for me, Bundles is just as amazing in its own way as his later more rarefied material, and I love the fact that you can still hear Allan using percussive and pick attack dynamics, and a more coventional (but still uniquely beautiful) sound, to give excitement and variety to the solo's phrasing. Maybe you could argue this material is more accessible than his later material, and I must confess I always loved it when Allan was playing in a collectvie so to speak (I love the interplay on Enigmatic Ocean for example). Hazard Profile is just stunning every way, and I can say it has formed the soundtrack to my life. Whilst Allan may have viewed this as 'primitive' by his later standards, it is still beyond any other guitarist past or present, and setting aside the technique, his construction and development of the solo is just the most mesmerising of musical journeys. I remember hearing HP when Bundles came out and it still excites me in the same way to this day. When I go to that great gig in the sky, those attending my send off will have quite a shock when this comes on :-)

Yeah Mr Lemon consistently has the best music choices of any creator on KZitem, legit. His music choices are half the reason I keep watching all his videos. I think in particular, the nascar videos, the guy who stopped the end of the world video, definitely the Hungrybox smash melee video, and of course Mac Tonight, are the best ones in terms of music. But he is just great either way. He will make absolutely anything interesting. The world's highest jump record video was particularly interesting, and I'd never been interested in that ever before, when that guy did the jump off the red bull balloon thing in the news, I just went "hmm, neat" and then promptly forgot about it. But Emplemon makes it fascinating. Also Emp's videos are the BEST things to watch when very stoned. Trust me.

Holdsworth was slightly miffed by all the artists hiring him for solo work, he felt his rhythm playing deserved more attention. Who could argue?, I could listen to only rhythm parts by him exclusively and never get tired, he's that good and diverse. All in all, it was only a matter of time that he could form his own band(s), and he was driving the bus finally. Kudos to Eddy VanHalen R .I.P. for bringing attention to Allan's music, at a time when record labels were dis-interested.
