Full Head voice and Airy Head voice:
In the upper register, the amount of air being used while singing heavily influences the sound produced. Many of you may be familiar with the 'falsetto and headvoice' concept. Falsetto is a modal part of the upper register that lacks true cord connection, while headvoice on the other hand, can only be produced with greater or full cord connection. Despite their differences, these two categories within the upper register can also be divided into their respective sub-categories. Falsetto can produced with very little cord connection (breathy), but can also be produced with greater connection (thick). However, both forms share the same feature, being a lack of cord connection. Some singers may choose to utilise a BREATHY FALSETTO while others may use THICK FALSETTO based on their style and/or skill. On the contrary, the same logic can also be applied to headvoice, as some singers utilise a more connected headvoice while others don't. To simplify things, we divide these categories into the sub-categories AIRY HEAD VOICE and THICK/FULL HEAD VOICE (as it is a spectrum, these sub-categories can be further divided into sub-categories of their own). SoHyang is an example of a vocalist that mixes her headvoice with air to achieve her signature angelic, pure sound, while on the other hand, opera singers are taught to utilise a thicker/fuller headvoice (which is known as full because it involves the greatest cord connection of the 4 types).

-Airy falsetto
