0:01 drive the soil ring until the 3" mark into the soil 0:41 remove the soil around the ring carefully to extract the soil ring 1:05 use a trowel or a tile spade underneath the ring to avoid loosing soil from the bottom 1:34 remove the excess soil below the bottom of the soil ring using a kitchen knife 1:55 time to put the soil into a bag, without leaving any volume into the soil ring 3:15 in the lab 3:30 weight the sample on a lab scale and then a clean ziplog bag like the one used for sampling (=tare) 3:49 weight an empty microwave tray (=tare) that will be used for drying a small share of the sample 4:04 mix the soil sample in the bag using your hands 4:15 take a scoop of the soil sample and weight it on the tray that you left on the lab scale 4:41 put the tray with the share of the soil sample inside the microwave oven and start a drying cycle (e.g. 4 minutes), then weight the sample; repeat until the weight does not change, which means that the sample is dry

Thank you for this. May I kindly get a published article that I may reference for the bulk density method?

Never seen a microwave method. Careful of drying soil with any metal bits in it!
