That little zipper compartment would be perfect for a mini-med kit. Toss some bandaids, gauze pads, basic meds, maybe some burn gel and triple antibiotic and you are good to go.

Nice! I think the PSP Plus is one of the best pre-made kits out there. About the only thing it lacks is a shelter component (if you keep a space blanket on hand you're pretty much there). I have three of the Ritter knives, good for the size.

BCB Ultimate Survival Kit cost even less yet you got (at least in USAF variant) additional small pliers multitool for cutting a small package of wire, candle, and its all packed in a metal container which can be used for boiling water. This SOL kit is a ripoff for 80$, though I found it for 55$, if it cost 30$ I may been a good value, but as its likely not produced in sufficient quantity to push price down, so it's not worth the money even if you find one as it may no longer be produced, which would not be exactly surprising...

Agreed with @robbabcock_ - one of the better SOL kits I've seen so far, at least... maybe a bit pricey for what you get, but I think the only two obvious things to add here would be a space blanket and a little first-aid kit... not much room for either in that pouch, but the hardware in there - such as the knife and flashlight - seems to be at least a rank above most of the competition.

A survival kit that contains water tablets is always a good idea because although you may not be in a proper survival situation but you may be on a hike over three or four days in the middle of nowhere and at some point have to resupply your water from whatever natural sources you come across and you need the tablets to make it safe

What extra items would you add to the kit that will fit inside? I was disappointed you didn’t do your usual adding, replacing and modifications of the kit to make it even better. I have mine inside a bcb tin with roll over hinge locks and removable silicone gasket (same as the tins the bcb ultimate survival kits use) and are sold by best glide in USA, so that I can cook/boil small amounts of water in it as well as adding more items.

I used their original model as the base for my Altoids kits. I found the cost of some of the items to buy on their own justified the cost. I of course add items. My GF has the knife which we bought later but I always thought the steel was way too low grade for even a mini survival knife.

I just wonder about the utility of making a snare when you get stranded are just looking to get rescued... Otherwise, not a bad little kit.
@KitbashedSurvival
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree, but at the same time some snare wire 1) doesn't take up much space and 2) is multi-purpose. So I think that's why a lot of kits go ahead and include it. Never hurts to have a length of wire.
@jhill4874
4 жыл бұрын
@@KitbashedSurvival Agreed, having the wire doesn't hurt. I'm just commenting on how someone in what should be a temporary (hopefully) situation would not have time to set up a snare. Even fishing might be less of a consideration. If you expect to be "lost" over a number of days, then these might be options.
@wjf213
4 жыл бұрын
I agree, snaring is not why I put wire in a kit. I put it in my kits, to make a wire bail to set my tin in to boil water and safely remove it from the fire. That does not apply to this kit here of course, but then you never know what you might come across in a survival situation that could be used to boil water, and could use a bail for that container.
@robbabcock_
4 жыл бұрын
@@wjf213 Yeah, the wire is great for making a bail for a pot. It's also good for lashing a tripod over a fire, or really doing anything that you don't want to burn or melt. I have wire in all my kits and the main thing I've used it for is to repair stuff.
