I Have This Scope, And It Is An Amazing Little Scope, I Was Blown Away By The Detail This Little Frac Delivers, Flares, Solar Prominences Granulation On The Solar Surface, This Little Scope Delivers, Lunt Knocked It Out The Ballpark With This Hydrogen Alpha Scope. The Views Are Amazing, And I'm Talking About Visual, I Don't Do Astrophotography, But Just Visual And It Is Amazing.

Sir, this is a great review! Have you also considered working with your local schools and / or volunteering your hobby with other groups? You are a good example to your people. 😍

I think the Lunt is the best solar scope for imaging. For visual ( in this price range) it's more difficult to say i think.maybe the Solarmax 70 111? Thanks!

True. Both are good for visual.

Liked the video. I also have a 178 camera - QHY5III178M. It has a 1.25" form factor and can replace an EP, like you did. With the ZWO (that doesn't come in 1.25" form factor, you used a 1.25" adapter. Don't most users thread the camera directly using the T Mount on the camera (like you did with your Canon DSLR) to the thread on the diagonal - for a more secure fit? How much border is there around the sun's disc? It should be 4.2mm and the sensor is 4.9mm x 7mm, but there may be a field stop e.g. the Etalon Blocking filter that is 12mm that limits the FOV. Did you try using Lunt's zoom EP or a double stack on the front, or compare with their other products e.g. a 50, 80 or 100. I actually think you picked the "right" size. Images are very sharp when processed, did you find visually, it was not quite the same and perhaps, takes a while to get up to speed visually? If you looked at Lunt's current catalogue would you consider the LS60MT to be better/worse, assuming you only wanted to do H-alpha? Did you have a friend guide you to your purchase decision or did you just luck out, or hope for the best? The product (especially with DS) isn't the cheapest product to buy, so needs somer careful consideration. Hopefully, you would do it again (if you had to). Simon

The ZWO comes with an adapter to attach to the diagonal so I use that. As it relates to the border around the sun disk, the field of view is rather small when using the camera but the entire disk fits within it with room to spare. I never really measured the border around the sun but the entire disk does fit so that isn't an issue if that is what you are looking to observe. I haven't tried a double stack or the zoom EP for the 60mm, I viewed the DS for the 80mm. I was planning on doing double stack for the 60 but I want a bit more resolution so I'm thinking about getting an 80 later. For visual the telescope is excellent, you can see all the features on the sun if there are any present. I don't compare visual viewing to photography since photography involves a lot of processing to get the final image. It really isn't a fair comparison. I also think it is the perfect size, as mentioned in the video, it isn't too big, isnt too heavy and still provides great detail of the sun, especially if you live in an area that doesn't have great atmospheric conditions as most people do , to the user for a reasonable price. The higher aperture scopes become more dependent on the atmospheric conditions in order to get the best viewing experience which plays into the price question. The 60 is excellent in great atmospheric conditions and poor atmospheric conditions. I came to this purchase using my own research and discussing the scope with astronomy store managers. I would do it all again and quite proud of my purchase.

Nice video, and very interesting solarscope. The whole disc image you have taken looks very crisp and detailed. Do you know if it is possible to unscrew the pressure-etalon unit from the telescope and fit it to a telescope with a larger aperture? I have seen descriptions of this done with the smaller pressuretuned Lunt 50 version, with addition of an UV/IR-rejection filter in front.

Sorry. I’m not sure something like that is possible.
