It's actually funny how this rendition of the song is so much more true to the atmosphere of the film. unfortunatly the tempo and rush the original edition has something special about it. Like a driving factor which i cannot pause, and have to have replayed all the time. Great for working out, running, biking or just laying in ur bed listing to. Thanks for this version! (though i still am gonna stick to the original)

I can’t imagine my life without Tarkovsky’s Solaris and Stalker. Those movies changed the way I see the world, as well as Failure changed the way I hear the world

This is fantastic (see what I did there) haha. Nah in all seriousness this version is phenomenal and absolutely breathtakingly haunting and has an eeriness to it that is just wonderful. Could image Deftones covering this and giving it a decent go.

I was a long time fan of the film after being introduced to it because of Failure before finally reading the book. Stanislaw Lem was an amazingly gifted writer just as Tarkovsky and Failure are gifted filmmakers and musicians respectively. Lem's other stories are just as imaginative, beautiful, and haunting as this film and song are.

This was my favorite song on Fantastic Planet. I appreciate this version, but nothing beats that run-on verse, "turn to flesh and bring me back to life," in the heavy version. But hey, it's not mine to judge, Failure is a band I will always dig.

i first saw "solaris" on turner classic movies which i recorded on a VHS tape in 2008 as i had no idea what to expect as it was just this knockout of a film. i didn't expect it to be slow and hypnotic but that's what i love about it. i then saw a few more of his films as i own 6 of his 7 films on dvd (5 of them from criterion that will be upgraded to blu-ray soon) as he is one of the best filmmakers ever.

Both versions are great. This version works best as an individual single. It’s spacier and tripper than the original. The original, on the other hand, goes better with the flow of the Fantastic Planet album.

@@mrhobs I was the editor on this! I pitched this project to one of my producer friends at Filmstruck, and it was greenlit. Thanks for your kind words! I do have the full interview, but I'm still unsure if I can legally put it on KZitem.

@@chrisgrass7474 Hey Chris, great to hear from you, and interesting to hear more about this project. I mean it goes without saying, but... awesome idea, glad you got the green light, and that Failure was cool enough to do it. This cut together version for the Failure channel is a nice quick way to introduce my friends to both Failure and Solaris. (Which I just did yesterday.) I understand that its probably best to just hang on to that interview for now (no reason to get into a legal tangle), but maybe it'll surface somewhere eventually. :) Alright cheers, and keep doing cool stuff! - Michael
