Super clean 1964 Vanagon Bus. This is by no means a trophy winner, but it's an excellent candidate for a restoration. Or, just drive it as is! It's a blast to drive and gets looks every it goes.
- Body is is excellent shape for the vehicle's age. All panels are complete and rust free. Paint is not original but shows well.
- Roof is almost perfect
- Interior is solid. There are some rust areas near the windows and a few random places in the floor. The pictures show the worst of it.
- Glass is complete and in good shape. The passenger side windshield window has a crack in it. Front windshield does not open.
- Front floor pans are in good shape, no rust.
- Undercarriage is solid. There are definitely a few areas that need attention.
- Heat duct and controls have been removed.
- Pop out windows on sides all open freely. Some of the locking mechanisms will need some work, but they are all in tact.
- Tires are like new and in excellent shape. One wheel is missing a decorative nut.
- Engine fires right up when warm. Cold start takes a few cranks, but that's to be expected on old VW's. Dual carburetor setup with aftermarket coil. Lots of power in the lower gears.
- Exhaust is solid.
- Electrical is functional but far from original. All of the controls are up above the driver, including the directionals. It's bizarre, but it works.
- Sony CD/Radio works great.
- VW emblem replaced with peace symbol.
- Shorter 2nd row seat with hardware and makeshift table not installed but included with the sale.
- Microbus model also included with the sale along with a few random extra parts.
- No seat belts installed. Hey, it was the 60's.
This van is a survivor! I will do my best to answer any questions you may have about it. If you are in the Baltimore area please feel free to contact me to send your mechanic over or to arrange a test drive. The van is sold as is, no returns so please know what you are bidding on.
I'm still driving it around so the mileage might increase slightly. I also reserve the right to end the auction early as it will be listed locally. $500 non-refundable deposit should be made within 48 hours of winning bid with the rest being paid in full when you take possession of the vehicle. I will work with you to ship should you so desire. Happy bidding!
