It's nice how you have two videos of how your soldering and what your seeing, shows soldering repair practically.

Thanks ! I was happy with the way this video turned out. The software I use is very simple, though the alpha blending feature is cool :)

Hi, nice work. For the future try to use a little brush when applying the flux, It's a better way to avoid wasting of flux.

One question is about the fumes of the soldering if causing dirt to the microscope lenses.Also instead one by one can solder all the pins together and then clean the pins by pulling the excess solder to the second soldering pass.Helps a lot for easy soldering the flat wide solder tip rather than the rounded.

I want that microscope. Could help in DIY laptop repair I did at last week. Soldering 0402 SMD components without microscope suck.

If price weren't a factor, are these better than stereo microscopes for soldering? Do you look up at the screen as you solder?

Great vid! Would hot air rework be better to solder that chip?

Thanks! It is hard to get even distribution of solder paste unless you have a solder paste stencil.

Soldering with a pen is definitely better, flattening the uneven solder with hot air seals the deal.👍

What kind of flux do you use? I tried to solder a new charging port on an ipod and it's a globby mess.. Would adding flux and doing this remove the globbage?
@ImGriffinP

Introvert flux definitely helps. Use the paste and not the liquid pen garbage. Also use leaded solder if possible.

It's a nice inspection microscope, but don't you need a stereo microscope for soldering to have depth perception?
@bwack
5 жыл бұрын
A stereo microscope is better for inspection for that reason. I didn't show in the video, but I also tilted the board to see the soldering from the side.

First apply flux gel..then solder all the corners...then use a small bevel tip and drag solder the chip...absolutely the best method :)

you should not use Q-Tip for applying flux... they leave some wire of cottons.... and also try to use a bevel soldering tip... and at 10:45 adding flux is way more useful than adding solder

@@en4cer450 It is not likely to short anything or cause any damage. If you really needed to repair it then you could add some polymer or glue to to cover it. kapton tape would also work.

Is using that much flux the key to success ?
@bwack

It does help the ton flow better. Look at 13:15 where there was too little. The solder dragged along oxidize, unlike soldering thru hole, you add fresh solder with flux core to every pin and hole.
