To those saying why are the other soldiers not helping, this scenario would have been practiced in their drill- I cannot speak for the other people there. Parade syncope is a known phenomena. When they are standing for prolonged periods with their knees locked and muscles contracted the blood pools in their lower limbs, this is associated with low venous return to the heart, which triggers the vagus nerve into fainting and. Soldiers are taught to wiggle their toes or make small imperceptible leg movements to prevent this, however factors like heat or blood sugar can also lead to fainting/syncope.

I unfortunately can relate. When I was a young sailor in the Navy, we had an August change of command ceremony and all of us were standing in formation, at attention, in full Dress Whites. Luckily, an observant Master Chief saw me just as I was falling out and caught me before my face could splat on the grinder. Heat stroke is no joke.
