I was on an FTX at Clark AB Phillipines during Balikatan 88. During the exercise, a large number of us developed heat stress and got pulled from the field, and out of 13 squad members we were down to 6 or 7 of us. As the guys got pulled, they left their weapons in the field, so we had a pile of M-16s in a pup tent in our squad area. Upon completion of the exercise, we each carried multiple weapons back to the Base Armory. I carried an M-60 in addition to my M-16, and the armorers asked me where I had gotten it AS I WAS TURNING IT IN. I kind of wish that I'd "lost" one of those M-16s. I don't know how I'd gotten away with it, but I still wish that I'd lost one in my duffle bag.

Since there was a war going on - his requests were filled without question. When Desert Storm was over - and his returned Stateside - he thought he’d gotten away with many sets of expensive NVGs. Eventually - they followed up on all those goggles. NMCIS (Navy Marine Corps Investigative Service) followed up on the now separated LT. He was given a stay at the grey bar hotel.

But that's not my main concern, my main concern in the movie is she gets home and gives her kid night vision goggles. You know what ever post she is from is on lock down. To be accurate the military will be more concerned in finding the missing equipment than a rampaging alien, producing more aliens, killing machine. Next if there really was an alien causing all this chaos they would tell who ever is calling them, to call animal control and give them their number.

With Identifers on plate carriers, the majority of people understand one of two things: "POLICE" or "SHERIFF". You roll up with identifiers stating "FBI", "Federal Agent", etc. Most individuals will duly question your veracity and likely precieve you as a threat - easily faked, and faked often. We found this out the hard way as an agency. That is why our identifiers now have "POLICE" most prominently displayed with our agency name below it. Show up to a domicile with questionable identifiers to the wrong address - which happens very often - someone will get killed.
