I can't believe you didn't run the animation at the end. But thanks anyway for the helpful video.

Thanks very much for the clear instructions, step-by-step. Even more valuable were the little tips along the way (like disabling the 'view key creation' and duplicating the motion manager). Thanks! I would have liked to see the final animation too. Perhaps you can upload it in a new video? Subscribed!

I'm doing a rotation animation, not using the wizard, and pause for a moment while I HIDE a wall. The wall doesn't fade like your dart does, it just disappears. Am I missing something? I have two Key Points designating the "fade time"

I have found solution to my problem. What Jim forgot to mention is that after every change to the timeline you need to recalculate the motion by clicking on the small button to the right of the Animation button. The yellow hatched bar at top of timeline changes from hatched to clear. This is an important step.

Hello nice tutorial. I have a question you might be able to answer. I followed your instruction steps and was able to do my animation. However, the next day I open solidworks I wasn't able to animate anymore. That is, I grab and move a part to a certain place, but the timeline isn't affected. Like at your 0:47 seconds you simply grab and move, and timeline instantly updates, mine doesn't. Have you come a cross with such a thing or do you know any solution? It's driving me nuts.

All I get when trying to move a part is "The selected component is fixed and cannot be moved", why is this ?
@jbyrne001
8 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard! It is very common to create a coincident mate in the assembly instead of a coincident sketch relationship. Make sure that you are not fully defining the location of the component using mates. As you stated it needs to be free to move in the axial direction. I hope it works out for you.
@richardmissin3498

Thanks for your fast answer Jim, unfortunately Im a noob and have no idea about mates, I've just built a part, split it and gone to the motion tab, afaik I have no mates...billy no mates :(

Thanks for sending the image Richard. That helps. I see what you are saying. Hmmm... I wish I could explain how to get it to function after splitting the parts. You may need to write to a SolidWorks forum or contact your local reseller. They will be able to walk you through it. I know what is going on, but it has been over three years since I have used SolidWorks. Crazy how time flies.

+Arne Boberg Not sure why the tab doesn't show up. It has been a few years since I've used SolidWorks. You might be able to get a timeline going by right clicking on the model tab at the bottom? Sorry, I don't know the answer for sure. I thought there was always a timeline tab available.
