I just did this hike solo on 4/19/21 and it was incredible! I was explaining to my boyfriend the narrows and I only got pictures, so showing him your video helped him to understand what it was really like. So, thank you! Also, that swimming section had my heart racing too!!! Good job!

Just got back from this hike! That full swim section was so cold it took my breath away lol. Spot on debrief. I'd also add that while not necessary, neoprene socks made the narrows section a lot more comfortable.

Your videos remind me of the movie “WILD” , a timid woman turns to the trail that teaches her to be brave, wonderful, and full of life!! Your such a gutsy girl, even though we know you have struggles at times, darling your INSPIRATIONAL!!!! Right now I am struggling with a foot injury, and it’s a bummer not to be out in the wild, but your videos take me there!! I never feel like I’m missing out when I see a video of yours. It always seems to me like I’ve just visited with a good friend!!! Keep up the great work and adventure, because your progress from your first video has been Amazing!!!!!!! Love yah girl 👧 ❤️

It’s amazing how the sky looks when you sleep out in the open in a swag (bed roll), we also have a Halls Creek which at the top end of our Great Sandy Desert thanks for sharing stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

So is "in a swag" what you say in Australia rather than "cowboy camp"?
@barrywatler7482
3 жыл бұрын
@@nomad_unknown A swag is usually a thin mattress 2 inches thick with usually a blanket or sleeping bag and rolled up in a waterproof ground sheet they are not too good if you have to carry them far because they are quite bulky. I worked in the bush for months on end and that’s all we used.

Great opening sequence with fitting and inspiring music. Awesome views of the Waterpocket Fold. Incredible to follow you through that slot canyon maxed out by a swimming adventure, complete with fishies. Your I-phone handled it just fine. Ideal weather and no dogs or people! Perfection! When you cowboy-camped, had you no concern about small animals? Thanks too for your detailed post-trip summary.
@nomad_unknown

I had a small wave of concern briefly cross my mind but then I made the decision to not worry about it. Anything that might be likely to happen wouldn't result in too much devastation so it wasn't worth the worry.

Lovely video, you mentioned that you are 5 foot 6 I'm. Wondering how you get on sleeping in the car, are you able to stretch out fully, I'm looking for a dacia duster the foresters seems to be very expensive in the UK and I don't see any car I would be able to fully stretch out in my budget at 5"7 🤔 I'd prefer it to look like a normal car and not a camper, I want to start with Scotland here in the UK, I will check out your videos x

How do you prepare yourself before a hike or an overnighter like stretching or yoga and food you bring or prepare before?
@nomad_unknown
3 жыл бұрын
I pretty much just bring pre-packaged food. There's a few bars that I like and I almost always eat the Next Mile Meals Beef Tacos for dinner. I try to yoga daily in the morning when I'm not on trail. It's a goal of mine to memorize an easy sequence that I can also use in the morning while on trail because my back can tend to get really tight.

Bummer you forgot all about your power bank and phone tripod. I'm sure that limited the shots you wanted to take on the narrows section. Good discussion on the do's and don'ts down there. And hey, was that Edward Abbey sitting under you phone during that debrief?

@@nomad_unknown Funny thing is I started it after arriving back to my camp my first time to Halls Creek. Checked it out from the library for that trip. Had to take it back well before I had time to finish and still need to check it back out to finish so I can totally relate. Also...never will I again pack a book that big on a bigger trip like that. I took that and a DSLR that I hardly used. Way too much weight between those two things, haha.
