Dearest Ms Bugout, I have watched many of your videos (some of them several times over), and I am fascinated. I have marveled at the economy of your van, and the lightness and simplicity of your van life. But, I have finally come to recognize one thing that you have not addressed directly, that one thing is what makes your small van not only possible, but also quite comfortable. Because of this one thing, you have also achieved an incredibly small technology footprint: no huge expensive 'house battery' no huge solar panel, etc. This one thing also makes it possible to live, and live well with NO refrigerator!! That one thing which you have quietly displayed several times, and only briefly, with no elaboration, IS YOUR DIET. You eat very lightly of what nature has to offer, and, from all appearances, your cooking is purposely at the very minimum, if at all. Ms BugOut, you would do the Van World (and maybe worlds beyond) a huge favor if you elaborated upon the details of your diet: what, and how, and why you eat as you do. I'm still fascinated....
@LadyBugout
3 жыл бұрын
Jim, you always have the most thoughtful comments and questions. I do eat simply, and nutritiously. I have chosen to for health and simplicity. I just feel better when I eat whole foods. I also have some food allergies that keep me from eating certain foods. I do think I’ll try to show more in the future, what I typically eat and what has lead me to eating the way I do. In the meantime, I hope this answers some of your questions about it.☺️

Dear, lovable you ❤️ It is an absolute treat to watch your videos. Your car is exciting, but for me you are the main reason why I watch exactly your videos 🤘🙏😎 Thanks for making them and sharing them. Q: the screws you use, how long are they? Did the car have more seats? Did it have a partition? Did you have to apply for permission to remove it? Thank you. All the best. -Kim 😃
@LadyBugout
Жыл бұрын
Awww, thank you. I appreciate your encouragement 🥹 To answer your questions: My Van was a cargo van to begin with so there were no other seats. It did not have a partition either. Because the van is an older one and already past factory warranties, I just did what I needed to do with it. The size of the screws depends on what I’m drilling into. I use them very sparingly on the body of the van. Only where there is space between the inner and outer layer. Hope that helps!☺️

@LadyBugout
2 жыл бұрын
You are welcome! Glad it helps. I have been in very extreme heat and no real issues there. The coldest I’ve been in is 27 degrees Fahrenheit. I was fine for the night but moved on to warmer temperatures-the advantage of being able to move. I think if I were having to live in the cold for long stretches, I’d need to think more about heat sources. The main thing is to regulate your body temp with proper clothing. That solves a lot in the cold. Hope this helps answer your question.

Hello again! May I ask you something? I’m torn btw the FTC editions that only hv front and door windows only and the editions that hv windows on the sliding doors and even some with windows all around. Since you’ve traveled a lot, what if any would be your thoughts regarding safety? Any concerns with hvg more windows vs just up front?
@LadyBugout
3 жыл бұрын
The real issue is the more windows the more you have to control heat or cold loss from inside and temp control from outside because of the window glass. And, yes, more windows, more possible entryway to Van. I thought I’d miss having windows, I have not. When I want to see views, I just open up the doors.

How'd you go about figuring out the blind setup? I'm having troubles finding ways to to attach a rod... there's really no spot to put it there, I suppose with your extension in the front headliner that helps but I don't want to do that, I enjoy using it for stuff while im driving, easy access to my camera and snacks, cd's, etc :)
@LadyBugout
3 жыл бұрын
Do you have a headliner or are you working with just the metal? If you have metal you could potentially attach the ends of a tension rod (the little u-shaped holders) with self tapping screws on both sides and place a rod between them. If you are working with plastic or a headliner, you can use toggle screws instead. Does that answer your question?

What is under the rug?? I just bought a transit connect and want to start a simple build. Is it insulated with wool? Anything? I LOVE your build (and the other "Lady in Red"😁)! I'm studying them both! AWESOME👏👏👏👏👏

Hello. Thank you. The floor had a diamond rubber top when I bought it as a cargo van. That is all. No insulation🤗

During the start of the pandemic, my daughter gave up her $1,600 a month apartment and moved in with us at our beach hose. She found a used 2018 Pro Master City and we commenced doing a build out. I am a retired HVAC mechanic and a life long boat builder. She was happy to travel in that for a year and work out of it. Then she added a 2014 Trillium 4500 Outback. I took her over to the state park beach lot (winter) and put some cones out for her to practice. We then went over to the empty state park campground and I walked away while she backed in and out of camp spots. She used that for 9 months and traded those two for a 2022 Thor Tallero 20J. And I have not seen her since! She did not like towing and finding spaces. Her class B she can put just about anywhere, and she travels by Harvest Host and Cracker Barrels. Love your tip's.

Hi LB, what was the van you. Started with? LWB? Year? Mileage? Thanks!

My van is a 2010 Ford Transit Connect. Not LWB. It had 69,000 on it.☺️

Hi..just found your channel and binge watching all your helpful videos as I begin my 2012 connect build. I love all your simple solutions. Would you please share where you got your roof racks? I can’t find them anywhere and I want to add the awning. Thanks so much!

If you are spooked after your are parked for the night and drive off- can you get into the front drivers seat without having to leave your van?? I’m concerned about that. I’m 5’5” 190 lbs. I don’t know if I can easily get myself to the drivers seat. That was a priority I had but then small and good gas mileage won out.

Yes, I can. I am 5’8” and 140 pounds. I often crawl through when setting up and leaving travel centers or rest areas when I stay for the night in order to not leave the van. Practice your exit strategy in that situation beforehand. You’ll figure it out😊
