My grandad built one out of a washing machine drum.

Haha it looks similar but probably works very differently

Don't really see how they work differently, other than one's a ridiculous price for what it is. Would be nice if Tom tries it out.

Well a washing machine drum has holes all over to extract water from clothes, and is just the same shape. The solo stove has air holes at the top and bottom and is specifically designed to be a fire pit, that emits a smokeless flame by heating air in the walls and creating a secondary burn

I did the same, my wife hates it lol, I left the sides open instead of adding a sheet around it for the secondary airflow

We have been looking at creating a fire pit. considering the cost it would be to build one myself this looks like a much better option. Thanks for the review

I would definitely recommend one of these over building your own, also check out some of their fire pit surrounds the have online for a good way to incorporate a table to your fire pit

Does this stop you smelling of smoke? Also you had a black coated of the earlier version does the paint flake or damage at all after prolonged use? Thanks.

I just received mine this week but haven’t used it yet. I got the converter that allows use of wood pellets such as are used with pellet grills/smokers. Thats easier for me than firewood.

I think pellets gives a more even burn but is a more costly fuel source

I can find them rather cheap around here, and they are easier for me to manage on my own than wood blocks would be.

Thank you for this. I've been waffling about getting one since they are quite expensive in Canada (just short of $1000 for that bundle). But i just pulled the trigger and hope to enjoy it this summer. ❤
