Still wouldn’t go out at night, and be aware of your surroundings. There are a lot of creeps that will try to harass, touch you or take pictures of you. Things like buying food at a convenience store meant for one person, they know you’re alone. Or buying ice cream, they know your place is nearby. Always be careful!

Something else in the comments is that a lot of people are concerned about meeting other travellers in Japan. As a Japanese, if I were to say a famous foreigner in Japan these days, I would say Thomas Lockley. Many Japanese know him so well that he has created three songs such as Wizard of fabriction, Isn't that Yasuke? and Isn't that Thomas? and his arrangements are increasing at a very fast pace. I was born and raised in Japan for more than 40 years, but I've never seen a foreigner being chased by 91407 Japanese (or even more Japanese with X). I think he is an unprecedented foreigner in Japan.
