Nice winter hike, you did the right thing by heading back and saving it for another day.....never risk getting wet in the winter, things can head south in a hurry.

I would say the inconsistent weather is everywhere this year in Canada and on the planet in general. In Québec we want a couple time from +4 to -20 the same day this winter . At least you where able to sleep on dry ground in February . If you go like 2 hours north of Montreal you would have been in over 4 foot of snow 😋 . I'm glad you didnt go on that thin ice , we need you for more adventure trip in the future . Thanks for the video

Hiked into this (I think) cabin over the long weekend from a different direction about 16 km each way. Last 1.5 kms were a bushwack and one water crossing near the end. Glad we didn’t have to sleep under our tarp although I was prepared for it. Great video!

I can’t believe I saw this video right after it got posted. Such typical NS woods & waters. Always surprising, so easy to get lost if you aren’t well prepared. I’m nowhere near as knowledgeable and skilful as you are, but I sure recognize the conditions.

The younger me would have tried to go through the bog, ended up soaking wet, then hiking all the way back to the car and reaching it in pitch black. Being ticked off and wet cold. You made the right decisions, had a good camp, and fun hike.

Noah, I’m surprised you don’t have a vehicle that suits your needs. Like a Toyota Tacoma or 4Runner. Some of the places you drive into I would never dare driving a sedan. I’ve seen too many people get stranded because they either punctured their oil pan or gas tank or just get stuck.

I just moved to NS and the winter here has been the weirdest I've ever experienced. First I had my first hurricane living in the RV in the bush, and it's been weird ever since. Speaking of "tick"s and spring, do you ever get ticks bushwhacking in those kind of woods or do the fir trees keep them away?
@Stevie_G
Жыл бұрын
Ticks yup ... any kind a bush wackin and you'll be into them in spring / early summer. They tend to burn off a bit in late summer and fall - they are worse in the southern end of the Province but have pretty much made their way everywhere. There's a company out there called "AtlanTick" I believe that sell tick repellent and mini first aid "Tick kits" - They come in handy when in the bush. Some winters here are full on traditional Canadian winter / Other winters even the lakes won't totally freeze. The rest of the time Its a Freeze-Thaw after Freeze-Thaw. You need to be prepared for anything mother nature can throw at you.
