I will never understand slavery in America and how people are so quick to dismiss it as just "something " we need to forget about. This was a heinous crime that spanned over generations

Then you are aware that if the horrible transatlantic slave trade had not occurred, no black living in the United States today would be alive? I know through genealogy that my ancestors lost their lives in brutal ways, but it's not something I go around thinking about or being angry at certain countries just because some rich old men from those countries sent poor young men to kill my ancestors. It's history and I probably wouldn't be alive if it hadn't happened. It looks the same today as rich old men sit safely on their ivory thrones and send poor young men to die in pointless wars so the rich can get even richer.

Jeremiah 50:7 AMP All who found them have devoured them; And their adversaries have said, ‘We are not guilty, Because they have sinned against the LORD [and are no longer holy to Him], their [true] habitation of righteousness and justice, Even the LORD, the [confident] hope of their fathers.’ Zechariah 11:5 RSV Those who buy them slay them and go unpunished; and those who sell them say, 'Blessed be the LORD, I have become rich'; and their own shepherds have no pity on them. Zechariah 1:15 TLB I am very angry with the heathen nations sitting around at ease, for I was only a little displeased with my people, but the nations afflicted them far beyond my intentions.'

Exodus 21:20-21 (NIV): "Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property." Leviticus 25:44-46 (NIV): "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly." Clearly your Lord was ok with slaves.

Why did you just describe one of the most famous movies as "an unknown story"? Why did you not also tell the truth - that he was not a laborer when he was freed from Epps' plantation. He was bought to be an Overseer. The day this man was freed, he was found sitting on the back of a horse with a whip in his hand. His master even held a goodbye for him. Strange that you would leave out these crucial details

The biggest problem was that they had the majority accept it, who worked against the one that would not accept it. That the behavior is still going on today, all because the church tells everyone money is the answer to everything that can wipe things away. For real, I can't tell.
