@@FredoRockwell Somalis tend to look everything through the lens of clan. For that simple reason you will not find Somalis ever basing their opinions on facts when it comes to their differences on politics which is why some in the comment section will find this video unbalanced. Yet all you have done here is point out exactly what happened both in Somalia and Somaliland. Your previous video about this very subject was the same as well, but even in that one there were those who would've thought that you being biased to Somaliland. Facts are facts even if no one believes them. But you have done your job sir and that is all that matters. Thank you.

Thank you for thanking my country and people. As per recognising Somaliland, I really feel we would be better off without it. We must count on our selves and not depend on anyone. Those who want to trade with us are always welcome 🙏🏾. If recognition would bring prosperity, look at most of Africa. Free cash 💰 has only brought misery. If there was no recognition for Siad Barre’s government, Somalia would have been in better position. Western soft power is a recipe for complete disaster. Africans must embrace the universal rights for self determination. Countries like Ethiopia deserve not to exist because people living in that country have genocide ☝️ after the other. Why? Because they cannot live together as one nation. The solution is self determination
@FredoRockwell

The thanks is well deserved. As for your other comments, international aid certainly has caused harm in many other countries (unintentionally, usually) so I understand this thinking. But I do think the Somaliland passport needs to be recognized as a legitimate document, and Somaliland companies need to be able to trade internationally without hassles. I think recognition would help with this.

The Democratic country's in the world should all be ashamed of themselves for not recognising one of the most Democratic countries in Africa and the most Democratic in East Africa. It's a shame and a huge disgrace to all Democratic countries especially the Western countries always preaching Democracy but recognising the failed state of Somalia instead of the Democratic Somaliland. What a shame! Somaliland must be recognised now!
@FredoRockwell
3 жыл бұрын
I agree it is shameful. There was a time when reconizing a country was just a matter of establishing that a government controlled a territory. It seems silly to let Somaliland be ignored when it clearly does control its territory, and it is also a democratic success as well!
@acacius9903

@@FredoRockwell Exactly. Also this will definitely let think other non Democratic countries around the world that Western and other Democracies doesn't really care about democracy because see how they are ignoring Somaliland obvious Democracy for more than 30 years now. Many dictators or groups that control countries undemocratically will stay longer in power because of this unfortunately. Things like this does have consequences. Glad that Somaliland chose Taiwan's side eventhough China treated Somaliland and also tried to lure them with falls prosperity. Somaliland chose Taiwan's democracy instead of getting huge amounts of money and development from China. If that's is not a great move and win for Democracy I don't know what is. If the Democratic countries lose Somaliland to China it means that China will be able to close off the red sea whenever they want in the future. Which is a huge treat to Western Democracy. Somaliland must be recognised now and Western Democracies must make strong ties with Somaliland or they will lose the future (cold) wars with China.

@@Ahmed40662 I definitely don't fully understand Somalian society. I'm very aware of that. But I do think the only democratic country in the Horn of Africa is Somaliland, and that is unusual no matter what its ethnic and linguistic composition. And this is worth celebrating. But as to whether or not Somaliland is a country, it seems crazy to me to say they cannot be. What makes a country a country is when most people think it is a country. I think Somaliland should be considered a country, and I hope more people will think the same.

Somaliland is not a break-away Republic. It's a former Republic which gained independence from Britain in June 26, 1960 entered voluntarily into a Union with former Italian Colony of Somalia in 1st July 1960. Somaliland voluntarily withdrew from the Union in 1991 because it was disastrous and a failure. Somaliland was not a genric part of a country called Somalia anytime in history. The name Somalia was coined from the word Somali by the Italians who colonised that part of the Somali territories in East Africa.

Hi, I wish I hadn't used that term, but whether we like it or not Somaliland is termed a "breakaway republic" by much of the rest of the world.
