Oh Peter, thank you so much for sharing your collection(s) with us. You own such magnificent pieces that it's a privilege to be given an intimate, guided tour such as this. I would always remain intrigued by seeing as much as possible of any and all of your collections; I believe the same can be said for most of us around here. We are fascinated! Keep 'em comin'😁! Thanks again so much, Peter.

The characters you referred to as the signature on the horn reads “ Lake Dongting Scenery" . Lake Dongting used to be the largest fresh water lake in China, it is still the second largest now.

Thankyou for sharing your collection Peter. There is a guy in our local collectors group who has a rhinoceros hornthat. was passed down in his family. Same deal, he had it appraised 20 years ago for 300k and now it might only be worth a tenth of that. Its sad that laws are so strict now.

The text on the horn is not artist name. It is "Dongting Lake scene". Dongting Lake is a famous lake in China.

Thanks for this video, Peter. I was just looking at my tiny ivory collection the other day. Might get you to look at it some day soon. Mostly Japanese but I do have some monkeys with a turtle that is yellowed on an ebony base. Not sure what to make of it. Enjoyed this very much.

Peter, the carved words on the back of the rhino horn is “the view of dongting lake”. It is not the artist’s signature.

If the black one (Rhino cup) is authentic, it's really worthy. Rest white (ivory) things are mostly the export crafts from 19 to 20 centueries...

We should create a photo picture and ownership registry of existing ivory and rhino carvings and should allow the buying and selling of already existing registered pieces as they are an amazing art form, while still banning the buying and selling of any new ivory or Rhino pieces.

Lovely collection! I have a question, i own a pretty nice 18.th century tibetan bronze. Ive asked a few experts in the field and their estimates were roughly similar in terms of value and age. Ive gotten offers from dealers but i dont want to rush the sale with something fairly rare as this. Is there a way for you to take a look at the piece or maybe you know a place? That would be fantastic. Love your videos! I wouldnt have made some great deals if it wasnt for the things ive learned from you.

I know someone who has a wonderful safari lodge……..it borders Mozambique…….I’ve told him about your ivory collection and he would like to offer you a free unguided 12 day walk in the bush……..by yourself………you should be able to find old elephant carcasses along the way……rhinoceroses often live for a while after there horns are sawed off……please go!

I sincerely do hope at some point SJW's like yourself understand history and appreciate the resulting art from various periods based on the context of the norms of the time, and not though the lense of whats acceptable or not today. You cannot change history. For Example. Today being the good person that you no doubt are; you could perhaps toss your computer and cell phone for starters as they are only made possible through unethical mining using CHild labor, human trafficking and the current African slave trade working to keep Apple, Samsung, Tesla, and hundreds of other Tech companies profitable. Every generation makes mistakes serving their own interests, including ours. This doesn't mean you cannot appreciate the artistic results of an era because the creators didn't share the mind set of modernity. How could they? Go look up Tippu Tip, what he did was also happening in the 19th C. ...
