Trip to Ein Gedi with a quick stop in the West Bank, Palestine where I took a quick camel ride.
Significance of Ein Gedi
Psalm 57 is captioned in the Bible as being written by David after he had fled from Saul in the cave at Ein Gedi. Psalm 63 was written by David when he was in the wilderness of Judah and surely the oasis of Ein Gedi is still in the wilderness of Judah to this day.
Ein Gedi means, “Spring of the Wild Goat,” and suggests that animals-not just people-depended upon its fresh and plentiful streams (1 Samuel 24:1-2). Because Ein Gedi represented one of only two springs that offered fresh water west of the Dead Sea, every nomad, wanderer, and warrior stopped there as they passed.
