3. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Pinhas Tosig, Strength of the Spirit - Gaza Envelope:
“The atrocities that happened, you need to see, so they can understand what we’re fighting for and what was the event that happened here. But on the other hand we don’t want to harm the privacy of individuals whose homes, because their homes are turned into a tourism headquarters or a museum without asking them, it’s their private home, it’s their private tragedy and it’s not nice, they don’t want, and we definitely don’t want that hundreds of people will simply come every day on a tour. On the other side, it’s important to tell this story.”
4. Various of posters with images of people killed at the Nova music festival
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Noa Arad, visitor from Dallas, US:
“I think it’s important that this becomes a tourist site. I think everybody needs to see this with their own eyes, for themselves. I think a lot of people are trying to find excuses and trying to find explanations for why so many innocent people needed to be killed and it’s just not right. You see it with your own eyes , it’s just people who came to come together with love and music and were needlessly killed by the hands of terrorists.”

“For the same reason you have cathedrals, you have synagogues and you have churches, it’s a pilgrimage, it allows you, this was such an incredible tragedy, young people out celebrating, celebrating peace and all of the sudden they’re attacked and murdered.”
17. Soldiers looking at map
18. SOUNDBITE (English) Joanne Landau and Fred Schwalb, visitors from US:
Joanne Landau: "Tourists that you see here are coming in a pilgrimage sense. I don’t think people are coming for another reason."
Fred Schwalb: “And that’s why I called it a pilgrimage. If your attitude is coming here to commemorate and to understand what happened here and commemorate these young people and their families, that's the proper way to look at it.”

You don’t feel it until you’re really there, and as a Jewish person, a little bit, you have a duty and a responsibility. It’s a privilege to be able to be here eight months after October.”

STORYLINE:
For celebrities, politicians, influencers and others visiting Israel, no trip is complete without a somber visit to the devastated south that absorbed the brunt of the assault near the border with Gaza.
This is a new kind of tourism that has emerged in the country in the months since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack.
Photos of victims are arranged around what had been the main stage.
