Strade Bianche is one of those races that has secured its place in cycling history. However, when it becomes as epic as it did last Saturday, it also occupies a spot in everybody's minds.
Rain, mud, and 15 challenging sectors separated the start line from the eagerly anticipated Piazza di Campo. Before the start, 175 riders wrote their names on the crystal boards, yet only three would etch it in the cycling history books.
Among them was a young Belgian rider, dressed in a red and turquoise jersey, astride a dust-covered and mud-splattered #OrbeaOrca, with a solid determination, or as some might call it, a premonition: to "do something big."
Something as "Big" as the infinite white roads of Tuscany, as "Big" as the crowds of cycling enthusiasts awaiting in Santa Caterina.... As big as stepping onto the podium of one of the most iconic races of all time. Grazie mille, Strade Bianche.
Congratulations, @LottoDstnyCyclingTeam, this is just the beginning.
